The Suspiciously Foreign Zonal Marking
Mediawatch notes that various sorts on the television, including Alan Curbishley and rather surprisingly Gary Neville, were getting into an awful tizz about Arsenal's zonal marking from corners, which apparently caused them to concede against Manchester City on Sunday. Tony Cascarino in The Times declares that it cost Arsenal two points.
Arsenal have played six competitive games this season. In those games they have conceded three goals - one a penalty, one largely down to an error by Wojiech Szczesny and Joleon Lescott's header.
In those games, they have faced 28 corners. And have conceded just one goal.
But yes, this suspiciously foreign zonal marking is to blame.
