The 1st game against local rivals Mervue Utd will be great for those who struggled to get to friday games with work commitments and those who never really liked the summer football idea to comeback and watch real League of Ireland action provided for the city, county and the greater western region
This game will be promoted in the local press, social media. Matchday promotion signs around the city and posters will further promote the new season and a full match programme with player profiles will be available.
Season tickets will be on sale and all details of the new season and season launch will be available on www.galwaysoccer.com

FAI U19 Southern Division
Galway United Supporters Trust vs Mervue United
Saturday September 1st
KO 7.30pm
Fair play to yous, but how can it be called Real LOI Action when it's an U19'S league? A bit of a stretch no?
Fixtures and results are on the League of Ireland website, the U19 League is administered by the League of Ireland office.
The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.
Of course it's League of Ireland football. What the hell else would it be?
https://kesslereffect.bandcamp.com/album/kepler - New music. It's not that bad.
What a way to sell it. Many people get annoyed at the lying and bull****ing that goes on from the boards of their associated club. Why would GUST start off with BS then? Annoy punters by misleading them. Stupid way to operate. Lose fans when they pay in and realise that it is only the u-19.
I honestly can't see anyone getting this wrong and thinking it's anything but an U19 game.

If the spin in the press and local ads is the same as in the OP then people who don't know the league and might be interested in a "new" Galway United can easily take it the wrong way.
Maybe if they'd said, future LOI players in action, would lessen the confusion of the original statement, although maybe that's the intention.
Home matches for Galway United Supporters Trust will be advertised as being in the FAI U19 League.
Let's face it, if you were trying to con people into coming to your games by misrepresenting them, I don't think League of Ireland is the way to go.
Rabid Polka Dot Monkey knife fights- maybe. Women's beach volleyball - certainly. Crippled Mexican donkey porn- long shot. A lecture on mid eighteenth century Connemara literature- that just might work. But LOI an football match against Mervue? I don't think so.

No club conned people in the past to see Celtic/Liverpool etc play when it was their u19's or reserves that no-one heard of?
You can't say it isn't LOI, it's a former (and hopefully future) senior LOI club vs a current senior LOI club in a stadium that's hosted LOI football for years . . .
I would say U-19 should be underlined, circled and written in bright colours, though. The ad doesn't lie but it does omit one important fact.
ok we will keep the u19s bit smaller
It will be like this
Saturday Night Football 7.pm
GALWAY UNITED u19
v
Mervue Utd
Eamonn Deacy Park Terryland

[QUOTE=gufcfan;1616593]It wasn't an ad. It was a post on a LOI forum. It was a bad idea to put it in the league forum. People were only ever going to pull the ****.[/QUOT
Positive promotion can do no harm for the league at any level
The Connacht Tribune, The City Tribune, The Sentinel, The Tuam Herald, The Galway Advertiser, the Galway Independent, the Western People, The Clare Champion have will carry a version of the poster. Between that, the poster run, The street signs & the local radio Galway Bay FM, Mid west radio, Clare FM, tipp FM, i-radio not to ,mention the city channel hopefully we can bring back and promote a taste of Loi football for all the people out here in the west like Sligo Rovers are getting starting on September 1st
remember winter season tickets launch soon on www.galwaysoccer.com
New special addition T Shirts on sale soon as well the Front will have I LOVE Galway United, the back will have a slogan that supporters come up with for a prize.
