Edwin Buckley has got to be one of the best in aul, surely he will be picked.???
Edwin Buckley a must surely???
Just going back on last years squad . Off top of my head Wilton had 5 starters healy daly blake o neil holden so that's 5 gone they also had sub keeper was in squad leeside didn't have any I think kinsale same so there is 5 starting places up for grab anyone else from last years squad gone ?
Should be a clean slate for squad a trial game maybe some very good players around both leagues prem and prem a last years team didn't get up to much I believe , correct me if Im wrong , as for lower league player a club should make a case for a player if he's good enough as there maybe legitimate reasons as to why he dosent play premier such as work etc
you are right on all counts..try some youth and let the back room boys get out the old notes of who could have made it and see.also lynch got left out last year did he ???if so golden boot .. call up ..prem title some egg on face there..packet of baby whipes for some one or 2 lol .

I agree that the team failed but what do you expect when the best team was never picked from the players available. What your saying is not to pick the likes of Darren Lynch or Babsy etc? Sure that would get Cork AUL no where. There would be no point even turning up for games with a depleted team. Niall did pick good players on the panel but it was team selection on the day that cost them. Players were asked to play in positions they weren't playing for their clubs + there was no plan B. Just my opinion.
Has any player from the lower divisions (div 2 or 3) been looked at? Just wondering. We had a player the last 2 seasons who's gone straight into the starting 11 of a msl team this year. Also have 1 or 2 more who could do the same and I know we aren't the only club at this level to have players of higher calibre. Might be worth looking at... There are alot of players that are extremely loyal at their club who won't move up divisions but are definately good enough for it. No harm in checking out a game or two at lower levels!
Darren did play - Id say his game up in Tipp helped him get national notice. He was excellent that night. Good honest opinion post Donnie.
From personal experience, step one is guys realising what the honour is and wanting to play for the AUL. Suppose same can be said of Traps team.
You wouldnt believe how many guys who didnt get a call.............."didnt want to play with them anyway!!" - whoever is playing, whoever is managing..................its not them its US! We play in the Cork AUL.
My involvement in the set-up was unsuccessful, but what an honour. It hurts like any unsuccessful thing does.
Im a fan of AUL team 2012-2013 already, even though I dont know who is on it. I may moan and groan abut the selection but that football. I will still want them to win.
Just remember, every kick makes me stronger and more determined. Indians always come back!
That was brought up last year as well. There was the option for clubs to send in a list of players that they thought were good enough. I know a few from corkbeg were looked at + a few more. As far as checking out games, it is hard with so many leagues + games. If a manager feels strongly enough about a player, he could just ring the cork manager. I'm sure he would be happy to leave him train for a night or two + take it from there then.
I don't know much about this new manager but its a fresh start + one that was needed. Niall was always going to get critised as he was managing in MSL but coaching AUL. Never an ideal setup. People cant moan about favours or players being picked for whatever reason. He will have his own ideas + players in mind. Be interesting to see squad considering most have only played Mossie which is used as pre season by most.
Hope Donal O Riordan rings in the changes for the AUL side. Fresh faces with fresh ideas, no better man to do it. A tough job that doesnt always please everyone. Personally haven't been a great fan of the set up for the last couple of years due to the treatment of certain players but hopefully that wont happen this year.
Best of luck to him and his team.
well if he looks at footie horse24 has sent a msg get guys that have guts..that can play.and yes there are great players in all the divs.im betting this is a good year.if going on mossi there.s goals all over the place..do that mean bad defenders?he has to take into account last season.

Guys, I played under Donal with Leeds a few years back and I assure you this guy eats, sleeps and breaths football. He'll leave no stone unturned in making sure he has the best squad at his disposal. He's one of the most honest and approachable managers I've worked with and will give everyone a fair crack. I've heard he's been at games from 3rd division to Prem already this year. Great appointment in my opinion, and long over due too!
