I think you will start to see a lot more of this over the next couple of years. Players returning to plpay for their "home" clubs. Since the top of the Premier has turned into fantasy football like squads, a lot of players would be playing Premier with any club will return to a club that means something to them.
Started a couple of years ago with Moyross who have gone from 3B to 1A in consecutive years. Now Abbey are doing it. Coonagh is in a similar situation with people from nearby and some of the old A team that broke up a couple of years ago.
Same with Wembley B a couple of seasons ago before they pulled out. A number of players who would consider themselves club men were going to go back playing with the B team.
To be honest, I think it is the best thing for the city. To have a couple of good teams in the lower league increases their appeal to other players and they grow from strength to strength.
Even look at 1A and 2B as examples this season. There are about 7-8 teams in each division with realistic chances of going up.
I wish Abbey all the best. For the next couple of seasons they should have a bit of fun moving up the divisions but hopefully they retain the sense of unity which will attract back other local players. The big thing for them is to stay away from how they went belly up last time around.
Chris lake was with the B team 2 years ago in 3b when Shannon A were in 1a. He went to the A team when they got promoted to the premier.
Agree with everything magicman has said too.

Kevin is gone to the boro nd best of luck to him a fine player but his attitude stank, can't fight and argue with players nd refs! John had enough of his behaviour nd told him to leave, no other player is gone from us. Thank god we're back in action tonight it's been a long week
There's no such thing as luck. Victories for the underdog are an aberration on the order of the universe - which is why I've had damn few loses in my time
Shannon town 7 - 0 Newport
Abbey rovers 2-2 Shannon town
Did I hear that Abbey lost 7-1 to Caherconlish?
That was a joke I think .. Abbey won 7-1 I believe
