Best of luck to all NTDL teams in FAI this weekend. predicting wins for Arra Thurles and close one for Nenagh Town. think Celtic have a tough one but on their day could pull it off. great banter on forum this week. was at clough game last week and for my money 2-1 was just about right. clough a good side though and wont fall apart after that one. perfect fixture for them this week and celtic are also flying. think league is down to them three now and whether either of the two of them can get a result in Brickfields. town favs but if they win sunday might get distracted with national competitions.

i agree town are favs alright but if clough can get a win sunday the points on the board count for alot, it will be very hard for us to go unbeaten for the rest of the season and i think we might need to if we want to win it

I think its poor form from some town posters on here to look down there noses at other clubs for not having pitches and facilities that are up to scratch. They have a huge catchment area and population and dont realise how hard other clubs are trying just to keep the show on the road.
When town play in their only big games of the season against non ntdl teams how many players do they field who came from the so called "unworthy teams".
Maybe some one can answer this. On towns starting 11 how many played for another club before town?
A bit of respect for the other teams in the league you play in. They provide you with half if not more of your team.

I agree somewhat with this post, there is a bit of snobbery sometimes looking at other teams facilities and it's funny in some ways because I doubt many of the people very much involved at the start of brickfields are on this forum. Of course the other side of it is that maybe it's no harm to be shaming clubs into improvements

Our field is not great, small and rough, and although that may have suited the way we played five years ago, it doesn't suit the way we are trying to play now. It's frustrating enough but you have to make do and to be honest it's funny sometimes knowing teams dread coming to us

It all works in a circle though, if the facilities improved then the standard of football would soon follow. Also it might make a few players more inclined to choose soccer over the gaa

Don't forget the development in Ballymackey also. Two new fields in progress with the use of the school field also and plans for astro-turf and dressing-rooms / community centre.

I wonder would Sallypark have any interest in becoming involved in using the facilities in Ballymackey / helping develop them. Seems crazy having three clubs in the Toomevara parish. I'm sure a lot of the Sallypark players play hurling with toom as it is.

I dont think its a question of shaming clubs into improvements panda ... I reckon most clubs would love to have their own field bought and be able to get to get funds for facilities .. Personally we have been trying to buy our own field for the last 4-5 years now , without any luck .. Its a pity cos we have the money in our club.. But for now we are stuck playing in our cow field , and some lads on this forum dont agree with our cow field , and dont like our cow field , but thats the way it is for us at the moment .. Snobbery definately wont shame clubs into improvement ..

I hear Rearcross and Nenagh drew 3 all. A great game by all accounts with Rearcross grabbing two late goals to maintain the 3 point advantage. Was anyone at it? Good to see Rearcross doing well. They're a good bunch of lads up there with a very small pick. Nenagh Celtic away to Clonmel town on Sunday. Hope Nenagh get the result. Clonmel have a lot of good young lads but I'm sure Nenagh have their homework done.

Bobblepark what u on about there is nobody looking down on any club over facilities, granted i do think clubs could do more to improve their pitches, in the end of the day we are suppose to be playing in a soccer league its not too much to ask or expect a pitch to be cut, lined and rolled is it? and we know more than most what it takes to run a club, it takes us up to 170 k a year to run our club which takes a huge effort from all involved, also i'm not bying that " huge catchment" statement there is 2 clubs in Nenagh and many more on the outskirts, and clubs like Rearcross, Borrisokane, Clodagh, Ballymackey, holycross are making great strides and are in areas that u wouldn't call hugely populated

well done to the north teams that got through, we lost 2-1 yet again clonmel town get the better of us in a tight game, we took the lead after bout 20 mins through jimmy but concided 2 goals before the break form corners poor defending form us, we tried hard to get back into the game without really creating much but we did have a great chance to level it but it went inches wide, anyway best of luck to clonmel in the next round

Although some of our lads have a bit of grá for where we are now and I cant see them moving. we actually had a field in mind a couple of years back only a few miles closer to town, but it was turned down because it wasn't close enough!

I'm not on here for bitching match despite what you might want but by anyones reckonings this "Tramore, pike, michaels, fairview boro are big games to us" is a put down to all other ntdl clubs, if it was suppost to mean something else then i misinterpreted it.
as for population versus number of clubs here's the actual data from census 20011

Nenagh 8000 2 clubs (4k per club ) thats assuming Town and Celtic are split 50/50
Templemore 1900 1 club ( 1.9k club )
Thurles 7400 4 clubs (1.85k per club ) assuming 4 clubs split evenly.
borrisoleigh 1200 1 club (1.2k per club )
borrisokane 1100 1 club (1.1k per club )
holycross 700 1 club (0.7k per club )
cloughjordan 400 (0.4k per club )
moneygall 300 (0.3k per club )
sallypark ??? (0.2/0.3K per club ) aproximation as no figures available

Town have double the population of all other clubs in NTDL bar Celtic but thats assuming a 50/50 split.
you have great facilities and i'm sure alot of hard work but not anymore than the rest of us.

for every 2 euro nenagh get from someone in the community towards the club Moneygall need to get 20euro. yet the cost of land and cost of building does not differ in the factor of 10 to 1.
I dont realy care what your problem with cloughjordan is but if keep this attitude up you'll end up with the same problem with the rest of the league.

Talking about Cloughjordan, nice to see them win their game on Sunday last, against Borrisokane, keeps the table interesting.... I do not think you can justifiably argue about matters mentioned above. To see teams with virtually no choice in who plays from Sunday to Sunday compete in a league with a town of Nenaghs population, size and choice is impressive. They are given tough games from most teams. I think if they were fair they would have to admit that themselves.

With a name like that we would be just opening ourselves up to bullying!

Well I think it would be a shame to buy another field for soccer in the area and to be going around to a lot of the same people looking for donations. Would make more sense to be all working together on a ground-share or under the one club banner. I hear we are playing ye in the munster junior cup this sunday so all talk of cooperation will have to be put on hold till after that.

All is well with us thanks ! regarding the game- We got out of jail in this one.. We were shocking in the 1st half ( worst we played all season ) .. We played well enough in the 2nd half . The 1st peno was very very harsh on borris and was awarded with about 8 mins to go.We got the 2nd peno on the 90 min mark .. This one was a definate penalty i thought .. I would imagine borris will not be hapy with the ref in question performance and i am going to keep quiet on the matter . The last time i mentioned a refs name on this was when i had a few pints in me so it was really all the drinks fault !!! Borris deserved something from the game and they played quiet well . I hope they pick up wins soon and i am sure they will . We were delighted / relieved to get the 3 points ..
Super pitch up there in borris btw . .. It a small bit better than our " cow field "
