    Darren Kelly joins Portydoon ?

What the hell is Darren Kelly doing joining Portadown ? He's signed a 2-year contract at Shamrock Park.

Last I heard he was hoping to stay-on in England. Was no-one in the Eircom League after him ? Why didn't Derry get him again ? I know our defence is good, but he's a local boy and a quality player so thought we'd at least be interested.

Maybe if we'd had a manager to do the work for us....!

Derry had talks with him and offered him a package, he went back to Portadown and they offered more. End of story really. We dont need anymore defenders anyway, its midfield and up front we need more cover.
Portadown are Just another team living for today and forgetting about tomorrow in terms of wages.

Considering what they've said they're paying Vinny Arkins, £1400, I can well imagine them topping Derry's offer
Upwards to the vanguard where the pressure is too high.

Well It is common knowledge that they are paying Arkins £1,000 a week sterling, unbelievable for part-time football. Id say we offered Darren decent money but I believe our finance director has a max per week cap on all players wages, Id reckon Darren will be on the region of 600-700 a week up there.

Some of the Portadown people mentioned that figure to LTFC officials at the UEFA draw, they reckoned he was worth every penny and the fans would kill them if he was ever sold..Dont care who he is that kind of money for part time is lunacy.
