complete silence is as powerful a tool in this situation imho.
It's perfectly acceptable to boo your team off the pitch, but doing it during the game won't help matters much. If they players play ****e, don't put their heart into it, they deserve to be booed.
Never thought of it, but a silence after the final whistle would get the message across.
I would only boo the team off the pitch after a very heartless performance! Theres no need abusing players throughout the match.
Why isn't "when ever I damn well feel like it, and what the hell are you going to do about it?" one of the options. I'll boo when I feel like it - half time, kick off, whenever. I can't stand these PC ******* who say things like "I'd never boo a player cause I love them". Load of **** in my opinion. Tossers like that tend to be the first ones to disappear from the Shed when things start to go wrong cause they have no passion for the club or the game and only go to games at the moment cause they have secret homosexual fantasys involving John O'Flynn riding them.
so if you win a ticket or get in for free you wouldn't feel entitled to boo?
booing is selfish. it's giving in to frustration and makes you feel a little better. but it's a negative response. no player/team intends to have bad games. loyal support is much more positive and inspiring than abuse.

The city where I'm living now is home to Rosenborg, which is the biggest team in Norway. Norwegians are a fairly quiet bunch at the best of times but it's gas to see how they behave at football matches.
If there's a missed pass or a free against or something of that nature, very often the whole stadium sceams 'NEEEEIIII' clearly and spontaneously in unison. The first couple of times I was there and this happened I was really taken aback by it.
There's another varient of this which is less coordinated but involves a type of howling at the moon whilst screaming 'NEEEIIII' at the same time.
I've never seen them being booed although they're well able to play krap.
They get the silent treament here too.
The National team got booed off the pitch here a couple of times during the last qualification and it caused a major stir. The media often hypes up mediocre teams to such an extent that when they don't play like total-football everytime, some people feel frustrated and start booing.
Personally I can't see the point. That great teams will sometimes play ****e and that ****e teams will sometimes play great are basic and important truths in football. Irish supporters should understand that as well as anyone. Some say 'well I've payed good money to be entertained etcetc' but if the money is so important to you that it makes you behave like a caveman, well maybe it's better to stash it the matress.
Then again, when you get 20,000 people together in a stadium, you're gonna get all sorts really....
