bread and butter Wexford Youths away

With all the talk of Millwall and United I think some are forgetting we have the bread and butter of the league still going on and tomorrow night we face one hell of a tough trip to Wexford. Many going?

Just heard Willo McDonagh is suspended so Hopefully Deans and Hope are fit to play.

Some other news is that apparently Jeff Flood is out for the season and Sean Skelly has left the club along with Jack Morley, I wonder was that because of the 2 new signings or does TC have someone else in mind?

I was impressed by our new striker Tony Griffiths against Athlone. I think he should start tonight and if we are to play 4-3-3 it needs width and if that means dropping Bermo and Shaw then so be it because the current system doesn't work unless you have actual wide men playing in that front 3 and Bermo and Shaw are strikers not wingers!.....I dont really think it suits us to be honest I'd much rather we play either a simple 4-4-2 or something dangerous like a 3-5-2 against sides we should be beating and beating well. Now Wexford are not one of those sides, they are always a tough cookie so I'd play 4-4-2 and just hope we have enough to shine through.

The thing is, never mind us breathing down your necks, if you were to draw tomorrow, and assuming Waterford collect all three at home to SD Galway, they would be travelling to your place next week with a chance of moving to within a point of you. I think if you take six points from your next two, and would then surely be top of the table when you visit our place in early August, the league is yours to lose. Great division though, exciting race.

I'd much prefer a 4-4-2 with James and Crawley on the wings, collies good going forward, I'm not so hot on his defending while we are usually a lot more narrow when he is defending.. Maybe play Kirbs on as a second striker behind Griffiths with Salmon and Keith holding cm.

Really have to win this, can see us playing the same old 4-3-3 thou and either stumbling to a draw or nicking a 1 goal win, wexford were fairly ****e at attacking when I seen them play.

Agree with you there colly is fantastic at going forward and is always our only threat down the right but he can't defend so ye 4-4-2 please.

Hope to leave Dublin around six, should have a spare seat from Kimmage and back as far as Stepaside/Luas if it is any use to someone.

Well we all knew it was coming... Chance for redemption next week, if we lose thats the end of any faint hope of winning the league as far as I'm concerned, even if we win I still don't think we have the team for it. Was nice while it lasted

We were very poor, and Wexford were full value for their point. They could have been 3 or 4 up at half time. We played well for the 15 mins or so after half time, but once we equalised we showed a real lack of urgency to go and get the winner. Cousins didn't change to 442 until about 5 minutes from the end, which was absolutely ridiculous considering we were playing against 10 men for the last half an hour. This 451/433 ****e isn't working, especially with Gary Shaw stuck on the right wing where he doesn't look comfortable at all. All our attacks just come down the left wing and teams have started to figure us out. Purdy played well when he came on and I'd like to see him get a decent run in the team as I reckon there's plenty of goals in him if he got a consistent run. His free kick last night was top quality.

If you can get a bookie to give you a price on us finishing 3rd I'd take that now. We've ran out of steam, and there's still a long way to go yet.

This is true, but as I mentioned later in the post, teams have started figuring out our main area that we attack, meaning the goals have dried up big time.

As it happens this was at the heart of most of the criticism of Pat Scully earlier in the year and it was only a switch to 442 that made us look more positive and dangerous of late.
The ball is round and has many surprises.
