big game on tuesday between boro and carew.
if carew harbour any ambitions of winning the league, then a win is a must for them.
think the boro are already out of the equation,as i cannot see pike dropping more then 6 points max, over the course of the season.
any reports from any of the other fixtures his morning
dines and balla one's in particular.
view won 2-0
one up at ht with a luca tedde strike...
regional had a man dismissed just before half time, for two yellows.
fairview were awarded a penalty midway through the second half which colin scanlon converted.
deserved win for fairview
Regional 0-2 Fairview
A much less impressive performance from Fairview this morning as they struggled to win the battle for possession in the absence of one of Thursday's stand out players Colm Heffernan. Regional spent large chunks of the first period in the opposition half but struggled to create with the exception of an early headed chance for Kieran O'Connell. They shot themselves in the foot however just before the whistle when centre half Jack Molyneaux picked up two deserved yellow cards and had to walk. In the reorganisation that followed, Regional allowed Mark McGrath to receive to feet in the box, turn and square to Luca Tedde to finish with pretty much the last kick of the half.
Second half, you would have imagined that Fairview would run rampant, but they were poor in midfield, and instead of playing patient short passes and making the pitch big to maximise their man advantage, they kept trying the killer through ball or the ball into the channel too early. They were far too anxious and needed someone of Heffernan's influence to slow the tempo. Regional were delighted to be gifted with possession so regularly and began to look like the team with the extra man, but again they struggled to create and with Declan Nash forced to play alone up top, he wasn't getting much change out of Mike Ryan who had an excellent game.
View went on subsequently to create chances on the break and both Derek Hanlon and Mark McGrath had glorious chances to wrap it up, before they were finally awarded a penalty with about 15 to go. Scanlon converted with ease. In fairness to View they had two strong shouts turned down prior to that, one for blatant handball in the first half, and another for a clear foul on McGrath in the second. Ref might have been looking to even it up a bit, and I rarely criticise referees.
Great for this young View side to pick up another three, but they huffed and puffed here. Had Regional not had a man sent off it could have been a very different story, but like last season they lack creativity both from midfield, and from a number 10 type who can drop off and make things happen. Sean Sheehy deserves a mention too. He slipped up badly against Carew last week, but made some great saves to keep his side in the game today.
MOM: Mike Ryan
