Statistics don't lie either.
DID YOU NOTICE A SIGN OUTSIDE MY HOUSE...?
We were far too static, I agree.
Already corrected the title
Anyway, my point is we played the match with 10 men.
Stats do lie because they don't take context into account or other things that can't easily be measured. Should Robbie have been dropping deep in front of the back four so he can receive a few easy passes and knock it back to the fullbacks like the midfield were doing to improve his stats? Or should he have been standing in position further up the pitch ready to receive a pass that never came?
The total number of passes we played in the tournament was shameful, the least of any team in the tournament, with the lowest success rate. We spent more time without the ball than anyone else. We spent more time in a losing position than anyone else in the history of the tournament. We conceded more goals than anyone else. Robbie Keane has been caught offside more than any player. Keith Andrews has the worst disciplinary record in the tournament so far.
What story do those stats tell? Is it fair to pick on Robbie Keane when every statistic points to us just being a shambles of a team in this tournament?
Should this not be in the Robbie Keane thread?
In 10 years time when someone wants to do some serious research on Robbie Keane, the finest Irish striker of all time, and when they check the Robbie Keane thread, this vital piece of information will be missing.
Maybe just as well.
Nobody is interested in what happened 10 years ago, and if they were they would want to look at the forum of 10 years ago, in which case they would see my thread.
Were they to look at Robbie Keane's thread it would make little sense without seeing it in context, to see it in context they would need to see the posts relating to the Tournament.
That is why achieves based on a player name are essentially worthless.
Basically anything out of context is pretty much worthless.
What 99% of people are interested in is the here and now.

Trouble is with posting pictures is people need to know the picture which I think I do (just) but it woudl be meaning less to a lot of people.
Which kind of link in with my main point that information of context has a very low value.
I just about know what the picture is but in 10 years time even less people would know what the picture meant.
People won't even have that choice in 10 years time will they?
This thread will be consigned to the dark pits of the forum by then.
Marty... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Well then so would robbies?
Or do you assume the threads by player name would be kept? (thus making them even more worthless).
I really fail to understand this obsession with enforced thread titles etc.. it has zero value, a negative value
really as it makes the forum utterly pointless and uninteresting to anyone visiting it.
Really baffles me how people can be so stupid, but then you only have to look at things like the economic collapse to
see that mass stupidity is abundant in supply.
And furthermore geysir the Robbie Keane thread is still here and I am not stopping people who want to post in it
post in it nor you reading it, and you don't have to read this thread either in the same was I don't want to
read threads with players names as titles because it total pain in the ass to have to open a thread
and then to have to find out what is being discussed to see if you are actually interested in it.
Such threads are 'forum destroyers' if such thread are enforced to stop people using the forum
then surely that could be achieved more simply by closing the forum or the forum owners stopping
paying their internet fees?
And anyway geysir, would you not like it if the forum was easier to read, so you could come to the forum
and read what you found interesting and ignore what was not?
I am sure there is loads of stuff I miss because I really find navigating the forum an utter pain,
I fail to understand why anyone would perfer it as it is.
You're taking my posts serious, TC?
Surely I can take the píss out of this one-off notional thread clutter without you getting all wound up by the crusading spirit?

Fly,
Back on form. It's been a while...
Good, that's the whole idea!!
You don't have to read my carp and I don't have to read your crap.
Had I put it in the Robbie Keane thread you would have to read it, as it would be interwoven with other 'none-carp' stuff about
him, this way you can see "well that a tricky thread so obviously a load a carp so I won't bother reading it" - Simples!!
The forum is worling as intended.
