Where did you get this info from? Just wondering as GUST have applied for an under19 team for next season also.
It's just been announced the Letterkenny Rovers have been accepted into the Under 19's league for the upcoming season.
That leaves 5 teams in the North-west competing for players.
Well over 50% of Derry's side is made up of Donegal players, we already have ourselves and Fanad plus Sligo are actively approaching Donegal players too (not sure how it works when those players are already signed to a LOI club but anyway).
Add in Letterkenny Rovers now and we have 5 clubs competing for players born between '94 and '96, it's absolutely shocking.

New licencing requirement. Every Senior Team must have at least two other teams from the same county trying to interfere with them in terms of support, sponsorship and competing for the best local talent
On a serious note though, it looks as if the Southern Section may be finalised by next week. It would be the first step on the long road to recovery if a GUST team is admitted. It's not something that has been taken lightly by the GUST lads, with a special committee set up to oversee the running of the U19s

LOI section on balls.ie - http://balls.ie/league-of-ireland/
West Derry, Donegal, Sligo, Leitrim, Roscommon, North Mayo, Fermanagh, West Tyrone, you're talking 300,000 people surely??
Also would Derry, Harps, Sligo in the Elite be competing with Fanad and Letterkenny in the Northern?? Surely you'd get the cream??
I maintain the biggest competition is from Junior ball anyway. (Maybe Limerick is different tbf)
Harps are the only side in the Elite, Derry, Sligo, Fanad and Letterkenny will all be in the Northern.
Sligo have offered 2 of our lads scholorships and pro contracts to sign for them from us.
Letterkenny and Fanad offering our lads a few "perks" to sign for them.
Derry simply state the number of players they sent across the channel.
So LTID, you reckon 300,000 people are all good enough to play at this level? Also, of that 300,000 people, how many were born between 1996 and 1994?
Junior ball isn't overly bad up here, we've established a pretty decent relationship with most clubs up here over the past few years.
All of the Harps U19 team that won the Northern league came from Donegal. We use to get some players from Tyrone to play for our A team but tbh its not a big recruitment ground for us with a younger age group. Harps, Fanad and Letterkenny will do virtually all their recruiting from Donegal. Sligo could end up with 4/5 elite Donegal players on scholarships. Derry also do a lot of recruiting from Donegal (particularly Inishowen).
Everyone knows who the best players are and they are/will be getting a lot of calls with coaches competing with each other for their signature. Seems overkill, dilutes the league and can end up causing local hostility. Would it not be better to try and get representation from Countys that currently have none- rather than go nuts in one place??
In the local papers yesterday that GUST's bid to have an Under 19 team competing next year has been accepted, and will be playing their home games in Terryland.
Is that a joke?
no, FAI insisted that the "supporters trust" section would be in the name. I think they are wondering if the Galway people will support the club with the name the way it is?
Fai had nothing to do with the name, GUST can not use Galway Utd Fc name as it owed by the directors of Galway Utd, So only way we could keep Galway utd in the name was to call the team Galway Utd Supporters Trust FC
Salthill may not be entering U19 league, it will be discussed at the next board meeting
Salthill Devon have filed a complaint with the FAI saying that a 3rd u19 team in Galway will destroy Galway Football? With 20+ u18 team in the county, I fail to see how 3 u19 teams could cause such destruction?
Running scared lads, running scared.

in Galway football if that is true, Despite all its problems Galway United never tried to prevent anyone in Galway playing football.
That crowd tried to airbrush our history from Terryland, stole our jersey, and the lowest tried to keep us out of football
Power and money corrupts but Galway United supporters like the president will stay United til we die
Great turnout at u19 trials in Headford last night,
Another marvellous turnout in Oranmore tonight. It shows the size of the county when you have 45 players from 23 clubs turning out. Playing out of Terryland seems to be a big attraction. One lad who has been around Galway football for 30 years suggested he had seen more good players last night than in the last ten years at United.
From my own perspective it was refreshing to see a good bunch of lads who could pass, move, trap and hold a ball up.
Renmore now on Saturday next should see the City & Connemara contingent show their ability
