    Cork boss seeing double

Cork boss seeing double (thanks to rebel for finding this one)

    Wednesday 13th June 2001

Cork City manager Liam Murphy is toying with the idea of fielding two different teams over a 24-hour period if they manage to defeat Latvian side Metalurgs Liepaja in the InterToto Cup first round.

City, who first leg against Liepaja is this weekend, have organised a prestigious friendly with Martin O'Neill's Celtic at Turners Cross on July 6.

But only later did they realise that victory over Liepaja would send them into a second-round clash with Dutch outfit Heerenveen just 24 hours after the Celtic game.

"If we go through – and that's a big if – we may have to send out two different teams for each game," said Murphy.

Surely if he's sending out two different teams and he's seing double, that's four teams in total. Or perhaps it's 8.
