The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.

Mc Keown "reffed" last night in Tolka. Bizarre scene when he tried to book a Shels player only to discover that he had left his cards on the omnibus. He then led the Shels player to the far side of the pitch to book him with the cards borrowed from the third official. 15 mins later he red -carded a Shels player for a tame enough two footed tackle which Mc Evoy had skipped around anyway. As Bohs decided not to tackle opposition players on the night Mc Keown decided to even things up by awarding a penalty for the normal centre half/centre forward tussling that goes on in every match at every level.

As for the match itself, the Tolka pitch mustn`t have been watered as the players were incapable of finding a team -mate with a simple pass. Either that or the standard of player on display was crap.
I can see Shels and their ever diminishing support in a relegation dog-fight as part of the bottom 5

Funny, you could replace Shels with Bohs and that sentance would read the same.

Bohs have much more potential to improve during the season I think. The Bohs support has not been bad so far this year which can only encourage the players further. Mckeown is a terrible referee, who to make matters even worse needs to be the centre of attention during the game.

It might read the same to you but it would be inaccurate. The Bohs support has held up well this year, the Shels support is dropping like a stone. Not anything to celebrate but surprising none the less given the exciting return from the four/five year absence from the premier tier and the publicity from the cup final appearance last year. No doubt the deadening effect of Matthew`s "style" of football is partly to blame.
Anyway Poor Student, what`s the biggest crowd in Belfield this season so far?

Zing! I've just been burned, never saw that coming. I'll just retract my point and set aside all notions that UCD are the big club.

Yes you have. I`ll ask the question again, your biggest crowd this season was against what club?

Honestly, I don't know, but I can tell you by the season's end it will have been against Shamrock Rovers. It always is.

Indeed. The best bit was pointed for a goalkick when the goalline linesman said it didn't go out over that line and his touchline linesman was flagging for a throw. So he made up a point halfway between where it was kicked and where it went out.

Stopping quick freekicks, stopping play, warning players all game about timewasting but not booking anyone. They won't listen if you don't book them. Quigley in Bray soon stopped his antics once he was booked a few weeks ago.
    The Model Club

Tell all the Bohs you know
that we've gone and won two-in-a-row
and it's not gonna be three
and it's not gonna be four
it's more likely to be 5-1.

The comparison you were originally making was between Bohs crowds and Shels crowds, so ...did UCD get a bigger crowd playing Bohs or Shels.?

You could have just asked me that. I didn't get to either game but extratime has the Bohs game at 722 and Shels at 601. Is bringing approx 100 fans more to Belfield really that noteworthy?

My original point is that you're both clubs who have small enough fanbases relative to the enormous success you have both enjoyed in recent times and you're now both midtable mediocre at best. We'll see if your core support is much better than Shels when success continues to escape you.

Shels brought twice as many to Tallaght as The Big Club.

With consistency such a sought-after commodity, it's great to see Messrs Hancock and McKeown keeping their standards at the same level they've managed for years.
"Even if the wind stops to blow
Even if the sea ceases to flow
Even if the sun ceases to rise
The name of Sligo Rovers will shine and shine forever like the morning star glittering in the sky."

I like high energy football. A little bit rock and roll. Many finishes instead of waiting for the perfect one.

We have been teetering on the brink of going out of business as a football club over the three years and have been saved time and again by our core fans stumping up hundreds of thousands of Euro to keep us going. We are under no illusion but that success on the field will be a rare enough treat in the near future, I would have no doubt that our core support will continue . Success will be survival as a top division club. And yeah, 120 extra away fans is noteworthy .

They must have decided to settle there as they haven`t been seen since.

A truely awful thing to suggest about Shels fans, nobody civilised could settle in Tallaght . Obviously child fare on the LUAS is cheaper (hence bigger travelling support).

    Now back to football matters........

Two of the strangest decisions I've seen in a while.

Not as strange as Dave Barry trying to defend why he made the decisions. Sadlier and McDonnell did well to keep their calm around him. Why he's on the show I don't know. He can't string a sentance together.
