There's some streams available online for it as well

They didn't push forward alright. Most of the penetration came from Brady on the right, or Cunningham overlapping with White on the left. O'Kane played in the hole behind Murphy, which is where the creativity from the middle of the park should have come from, but he was poor. Hourihane came on from him in the second half, and was much better. Collins was up front at that point, and Hourihane was breaking and feeding off knock downs from him, rather than playing through the middle.

Looks like Shane Duffy has had a shaky start based on the live text updates on http://www.uefa.com/under21/season=2...ght/index.html

    • 3 Duffy (Republic of Ireland) scores an own goal.
    • 3 Florenzi (Italy) takes the free-kick.
    • 3 Duffy (Republic of Ireland) is booked.
    • 2 Duffy (Republic of Ireland) gives away a free-kick for a challenge on Immobile (Italy).

Based on that he could easily be the new Richard Dunne.

Just saw the replay of the foul and own goal. Poor enough. As the half went on he's settled a bit though. Went close enough with a header before the break.

Ireland have come from 2-0 down to be level 2-2 with about 15 left - even a draw would be a decent result. Brady Pen and Cunningham with the goals.

Edit - Full time 2-2. A win at home to Turkey in August secures 2nd place in the group before the trips to Hungary and Italy. Best 4 second placed teams from 8 groups get into playoffs for the finals, - maybe we are finally seeing a bit of progress at this level. Well done to them,

Italy with a late red for a shocking kick from behind as well. On first glance it looked he was just pulled back, but the replay showed the Italian kicked out at him

Pretty disappointing we had to watch an Ireland team playing in Sligo on Italian TV, and they had a full TV crew at the Showgrounds

Couldnt agree more. What sort of crowd was at this?

Like TG4 in particular show any sort of GAA and rugby match these days (and fair play to them for doing so), surely our U21 home games could be screened by them also, particularly those in Silgo.

Anyways, good result and great fightback by all accounts. About time the U21 team started having some success, after years in the wilderness under Givens. Turkey home game will be massive for them.

    Remaining fixtures:

Ireland v Turkey 14/08/12 HOME TBC
Hungary v Ireland 06/09/12 AWAY TBC
Italy v Ireland 10/09/12 AWAY TBC

The match sold out this morning and at the minute i think theres over 2700 seats in the showgrounds so a decent crowd. Hopefully when we put in the extra seats they will keep coming back to Sligo because most will be back after todays game and for the 10 ,minutes in and around Irelands goals the place was buzzing,Have to agree on the tv aspect, today was a great advertisement for this group of players.
On the game itself i must say i was very impressed with Ireland and how technically proficient they are. After the goal in the 1st half i taught they played all the football but creating very little in the way of goalscoring chances and the italians looking dangerous on the break. 2nd half after italy went 2 up i assumed the match would just fizzle out but fair play to Ireland they kept in their and got their reward with a draw. Was very impressed with cunningham and white on the left side and Brady on the other side is just special, everytime he gets the ball you think something might happen and although he was in and out of the game today some of his touches are worth the admission alone. If he keeps his head right he has to be a certain future international and if hes getting regular club time in the epl or championship he should be in the squad for the next qualifiers. Murphy up front worked really hard and hendrick impressed too but it was a great team performance and great entertainment for a tenner.
Just on Noel King, it has to be said what a great job he is doing with this team and the progress they have made under him compared to Givens. For whatever reason i was never too fond of him in his league days but as said earlier these lads play great football and i would advise anyone if they play anywhere near to them to go out and watch this team as its great value.

Great stuff Joe. What a beautiful looking pitch. Never realised The Showgrounds was set in such a scenic backdrop. Our equaliser didn't quite do the surroundings justice.

Just looking at the lineup, that bench is really strong. Any one of them would be starters in previous u21 sides.

Going on United's policy with youth players, I'd expect Brady to follow the example of Wellbeck (Preston/Sunderland) and Cleverly (Leicester/Watford/Wigan) and go on loan to a Premier League side this season
Wigan would be an ideal place for him IMO
