were are Limerick fc going to play next season?

Provided we get promoted were are we going to play?
Jackman park won't get a premier licensed the markets field hasn't had a light bulb fitted never mind the pitch dug up and relayed even if you started on the pitch in the morning it would not be ready. JUst curious does anyone know what's happening with it and why has no work been done?

Ya it would be interesting to know. I get asked pretty much every week if I know if there has been any movement. The more I say I don't know or there doesn't seem to be the more people (including myself) start to think there isn't a hope we will be in there next season. Regardless of promotion this year we need to be moving in next season or it will probably never happen.

COrrect me if I'm wrong but Limerick do owe the markets field ya? ANd since plans were shown to the public on what the clubs vision for the ground ie 8,100 seater there is something not right.

No it belongs to the LEDP but Limerick have use of it.

Most likely outcome if Market Field not ready is that Jackman gets a derogation for a year based on the plans. At Harps we avoid finding out what happens after that by immediately getting relegated.

Yeah, there is no obvious solution for the problem other then hoping Jackman gets excused long enough for Market's Field to be fit for purpose (or that work on Market's Field is sped up drastically). What other places can they use? No other stadium in Limerick is a greatoption. At an absolute stretch they could play in Thomond, but how many seats could they hope to fill? You don't want to look like SD Galway.

Ha, maybe be can groundshare with Salthill. They don't exactly need all the room.

It would be great if somebody could find out what the plan would be at our next home game or up in galway.

I cant see senior soccer in jackman next year it doesnt suit the footballers we have, it would be ideal if Limerick made an announcement as to the plans to development of the marketsfield.

I asked someone this the other day and they told me that Markets Field would 100% be ready to go into not anywhere near finished but good enough to use.
So hopefully that is the case.

you would get away with it if the pitch was at least ready to go there is no way you can just run a lawnmore over it line it and stick goal posts up no chance its like a bog.
it needs to be dug up and relayed with drainage also put down the pitch would need a year or two to muture. the reason i know because iv seen first hand a bog dug up drains put in it took two years for the pitch to harden and now carew park have one of the best playing surface in the league up there with pike, boro and view.

also liverpool are training on it on sunday (prob perfer to play on it when they see jackman lol)

i heard that aswell harpin but then i heard they decided against it because they will be trying to get some big clubs over for pre season and they wont play on that surface.
but thinking about its prob the only way they can have it ready for the start of next season isnt it

I would imagine the development is mostly going to be funded by LEDP and hopefully local government. Limerick Corporation won't exist anymore after 2014 so they might not be moving too fast. LEDP possibly don't move at breakneck speed anyway (that might be unfair) and perhaps need another donation from JP to do anything anyway. Perhaps the club should take a leap of faith and spend money now on getting the pitch sorted at least.

Why not place a 3G surface in "The Field Of Markets" and teams that refuse to play on it for pre-season bring to Thomond Park!!!!!!

Hasn't Terryland won the best pitch for the last few seasons and not it is last in that list?

Well, maybe some of the lads coming back from the game tomorrow night could shed some light on what kind of state it is in?

No turners cross has. Terryland was shocking earlier in year. In fairness it depends when you go to a pitch. A few weeks ago Jackman was terrible but was in great nick Monday.

Well, it would be interesting to keep an eye on that table as the season goes on. But a few things strike me about it:

    1) I was down in Wexford last month, and Ferrycarrig (even though that was probably the worst condition I'd ever seen it in) is definitely in better condition than Jackman Park. But both pitches have the same score.
    2) Is Dalymount really as bad as Jackman Park and Gortakeegan?
    3) The score for Oriel Park just shows the prejudice against the artificial surface. If you apply the criteria listed at the bottom of the page objectively, Oriel Park would get 5/5 (or very close to it at least).

Having been in Terryland on friday, it is imo in very poor condition.
    Fight the good fight!

Dalymount is very poor, at least it was when we were there. One of the worst I've seen this year. very surprised to see The Brandywell score so high
