    Utd V Dynamo Bucharest

Listening to the match on 5Live.

Liam Miller came on for the last 20 mins and played very well his cross shot was deflected for the winner.

O'shea had a good second half inthe center of midfield.

Keane had a quiet game at center back.

I taped it on TV3 and just watched it in full.

Keane gave a few free kicks away at the back but is definitely a safer centre half than O'Shea. Sivestre also plays better with a leader beside him.

O'Shea had a very good game. He always seems to be low in confidence at the back but he looked very confident playing in midfield. Djemba played the holding role and O'Shea suprisingly made a lot of forward runs and should have scored on a couple of occasions. He completely outshone Djemba in midfield.

Miller played the last 20-25 minutes and set up the second goal with a low cross from the right. He also set Giggs up for a chance which you would have expected him to finish. Miller always wanted the ball and wasn't afraid to run at the defence. All Miller's best performances have come from the right of midfield.

Also, Andy Reid had an superb game tonight and Connolly missed a penalty.

O Shea had a good game, had a hand in the first goal and set up a nice
chance for Scholes, made some good passes, especially when he didn't
    have time to think!
Keane played well but was left exposed to two attackers in the build up
to the first goal, when Man U lost possession on the right, no way could
he stop a cross coming in. He also made what looked like a sloppy header
but I think he was expecting Silvester to pick it up.

Miller looked to have good control and he fired in a cross across the
front to the goal mouth which would be a nightmare for any defender
to deal with, the defender did the job of the attacker he imagined
    was there!!

Of course this raises the possibility of O'Shea and Keane swopping
roles for Ireland, something for Kerr to consider I would imagine.

Congratulations to Shelbourne on their 0-0 draw, if they can get an
away goal they will be in with a chance.

Yea, Reid had a great game for Forest, hit the crossbar from 18 yards,
some good crosses, won several fouls and had another 18 yarder
    tipped over by the keeper.

I must confess to have been at the game and missed the real Reds v Depor. a long arranged business trip meant I missed the game at Lansdowne.

O'Shea was brilliant - ran midfield - very assured. Miller did very well when he came on and forced the own goal for the winner. Keane did ok but doesn't look like a centre half.

Manyoo brought less than 500 fans to Bucharest (if you don't count the 50-100 that came from Croatia and Bulgaria). No doubt they were well supported from sofas and barstools in Milton Keynes, Dublin etc. I think we'd bring ten times that for a world cup qualifier/EC game.

O'Shea was outstanding in midfield, best I have ever seen him play. His physical presence there was immence, it was a performace as good as anything you will see from Keane or Vieira.

Have to say also that Miller was mighty impressive when he came on, Keane had a quite game but looked OK at centre back.

I think Keane and O'Shea in the centre of our midfield would be a hell of a force to be reckoned with, even for Vieira and Makelele.

    You're off your head!
One average performance against a poor team and you get all excited.
So many Man Yoo fans can't be objective about football.

What the hell was the keeper doing for Giggs' goal?
Some of the "football" last night was comical.
If we had two own goals like that in an eL game everyone would be out saying how shíte the league was.
Get back in your box there for a while boy.
We're not about to uproot proven mid-field players to accommodate someone who has never shown for his country.
I suspect Alex Funguson has got to him.
Wont be long before he does a Scholes and turns his back on his country.

How do you expect United fans, with the very few Euro away games they have every season, to compete with the Best Fans In The World who combine the Ireland Away games with their week in week out support of football?

Bit gutted i missed football last night. No way of watching Shels (fantastic achievement) and commitments meant i couldn't watch the united game either. Would like to have seen O'Shea's performance by all accounts here. Can anyone really see this continue though when United's injured return? Van Nistelrooy, Rio, Ronaldo, and unfortunately probably Heinze will all get back in the team when they return. In Midfield Miller and O'Shea will be down the pecking order of Keane, Fletcher, Scholes, Ronaldo and Giggs.

Peadar, yoru point, was well made untuil the end bit, that says i suspect that alex ferguson has got to him. It is blantanly obvious from your post that you are anti Man utd. This only takes away from any good points you have made earlier in your post. I really hate the way people let their club allegiances influence their opinion on the national team. I support Bohs and spurs in england but if stevie finnnan was playing better than carr, i would always say finnan should get the nod (of course now carr is goine to newcastle.) but you get my point. Look there are people out there that jumped on the bandwagon and support Man Utd because they are successful but the same happened in the 80s with liverpool. In addition there are a lot of Man Utd supporter that are the most informed people I have come across and who suffered for 26 years without a league title. Not all of them are Roy Keane lovers and Mick Mc Carthy Haters. Secondly there is no evidence to suggest that Ferguson is trying to stop O Shea playing for Ireland, or that he tried to stop Scholes playing for England. WHat u are doing is painting a caricature of Ferguson, without supporting it with facts. Finally i do agree, it is crazy to suggest that O shea should now play in midfield for Ireland because of one game. It does hint at that maybe Ferguson recognises the fact that O sheas strongest point is going forward and not always defending. But for the moment I think he is teh best left back we have. What Utd do and what we do are two different things. Plus I dont think Keane will be playing centre half for Utd on a regular basis either.

In a final note, fair play to shels, was at the game last night, and I must say Wes Houlihan would do a job in the Irish squad.

Why, Man Utd have played great football since the Premiership has begun they have never resorted to negative tactics, like maybe liverpool have. Although not a Man Utd fan, one has to respect the achievement of 7 championships in ten years. Ferguson has always had a strong irish influence at the club, cant say Wenger has or Houlllier. Ferguson is a winnner, and winners get up the noses of people, because of the fact that they win.

United were originally only offered 750 tickets having asked for 2,000. Then the game was moved from Dinamo's stadium (15,000 capacity) to the national stadium and United had a large section mainly empty. I know because once the draw was made I began searching for a ticket- wasn't looking good until the game was moved. I had a home ticket but these were in short supply in the day and some riots on tv re tickets but foreigners could buy a ticket in the away end no problem.

Full house, great atmosphere, all the steps full as well but I'd still rather have seen the Real reds at Lansdowne.

Still hard to blame the United fans for staying at home as there wasn't a prawn sandwich to be had and the home fans never stopped chanting and singing and wouldn't sit in silence like other theatres.

We only brought 3,000 in 97 but we were poor in that campaign. - remember Roy Keane as sweeper at home to Iceland and Garry Kelly up front in Bucharest.
