I honestly think that Ferguson knows O'Shea is no longer his first choice at left-full hence trying him at centre-half on Sunday and at mid-field last night.
He's merely seeing if O'Shea could be any use anywhere else.
The fact that he has essentially replaced him at left-full shows that Ferguson doesn't think O'Shea is good enough in that position.

Well I think Ferguson has said for a long time that he though o shea would playi n the centre either had centre half or midfield, and he said that when he first came into the side.

the last point is verging on racism, Just wonder what irish people within the game are renowned for.

Also Scottish managers have been fery successful in English football

    Shankly
    Busby
    Ferguson
    Graham
    Daglish

and some others have done really good jobs

    Strachan
    Burley
    etc.

I would rather there attitude that wins things, that some sort of John Gregory approach to football.

It may seem racist and maybe I'm racist towards Scottish people where football is concerned. I don't honestly know. They can be difficult to tolerate sometimes. When they hear you're Irish they automatically assume that you've some sort of bond and begin to slag off the English, expecting you to join in.
In football in a list of people I don't like for one reason or another are,
    Alex F
    Graeme Souness
    Gordon Strachan
    Ally McCoist
Andy Gray doesn't do much for me either.

Well i happen to share a house with a scottish guy and I think what u are talking about is rubbish and racist nonsense. If it not allowed to sell tickets on this site, it should not be allowed to spout racist nonsense on this site either. Rilvalry in sport is healthy as long as it does not become sectarian etc. I think we have a rilvalry with the english but the Scots have a bigger one. THe problem with scotland is that in west scotland and more exactly Glasgow, they have two sets of fans, who have significant amounts of numbers who support countries that they were not born in, i.e. Celtic, -Ireland, Rangers - England.

All of the people you have mentioned are probably the most informed people about British football that are in the media etc. Strachan is a breath of fresh ariir. and Andy Gray is one of the good things about Skys coverage.

What you've done here Neil is give your opinion, just as I did.
Should I pretend to like Scottish people in general just to conform to the laws of PC? I've met some people from Scotland that I've liked but they were all Rangers fans who were great for a bit of banter because they didn't consider me to be their cousin. Having said that, I've met 20 times more English people that I've liked.

    *Edit*
Sorry for dragging this thing off topic.
I had no intention of getting into a debate about Scottish people.

In fairness, i don't think this is racist NeilMcD. Peadar says it's common to a lot of Scots in football, he's right and to be honest I think a lot of them like to play up their no-nonsense hard man approach.
Look at the managers you've mentioned yourself....

Not a nice guy among them, all aggressive bully-boys if you ask me, which you back up by contrasting them with John 'nice but dim' Gregory.

TBH Craig Brown is about the only (relatively) 'nice' Scottish manager I can think of at the moment

I just dont see what nationality has to do with it, Fair enough you dont like Ferguson, but to link it in with his nationality is madness. Maybe teh scottish people you are hanging around with or meeting are the old school celtic fans who think we have some sort of brotherhoood thing going on. but it also happens vice versa , as you will see if you pop into any irish pub during an old Firm game. Regarind people been nice etc. The fact is we see these guys through the filter that is the media, We are in no position if someone is nice etc. Some of them put up fronts to deal with the media and to protect their own interests, club, players etc. I would rather a good manager than a nice manager anyday. John Gregory has proven to be a crap manager. When his is on SKy he talks an awful amount of rubbish.

So many Man Yoo fans can't be objective about football.

Get back in your box there for a while boy.
We're not about to uproot proven mid-field players to accommodate someone who has never shown for his country.
Scan I'm a Liverpool fan so you can never accuse me of being biased twoards Man Yoo.

You are clearly far less objective than me, obviously you can't stand to praise any Man Yoo player, even if that player is from your own country.

I am not biased twoard Man Yoo, I just like to see all Irish players do well and am not afraid to admit it when they do.

    Question

Good to see Man U goin through and especially young miller getting a good start to his Utd career. Regarding the comments about the Scots in the game down south being bullies..I think ur confusing bullying with being competitive...nothing wrong with that is there...after all the name of the game is to win....unless iv missed somthing over the yrs!.As a Scot (Glaswegian of irish decent) the only thing i can take from these statements ...is jealousy ....u slag off both the scots and the english ...and especially the state of scottish football...am i missing somthing here.....when was the last time a team from the EL did well in europe (if ever) and im not slaggin u guys , but come on ..behave, after all its only a game isnt it.....one thing iv picked up on over the last few days ..is some of u "real irish men" have a large chip on the auld shoulder.....so come on and chill....and finally ..who saw the CELTIC V SPURS game on tuesday ..some good young lads coming through ..."the futures bright..BUT it aint orange !....lol.....HAIL HAIL

I think EL sides have a fairly good record against the non auld - firm Scottish sides in recent years, no?

Don't mention the C word. They're known on here as Luton and the other lot Watford.

    Thumbs up

Lopez,..ur trying to take the urine surely !...are u sayin that the moderator of this site shows a clear bias against "LUTON" ?...When i joined this site i thought it was a place to discuss football openly. Iv met thousands of irish through travelling/ buisness and socially and i can honestly say that the majority of those people were pleasant folk...when it came to football a large majority supported "LUTON" ..and MAN UTD...i take it im allowed to use that football teams name without any sort of backlash ?.....so i can only assume that the "eejits" that slag "LUTON" because of their irish links and background are not a true representative's of the irish people....and are the type of kids that would take their ball back if they wern't allowed to pick the teams at school ?...the only thing iv really got to say about this idiotic behaviour...is......thank God i support GLASGOW CELTIC FOOTBALL CLUB...its a well known fact if u dont support them u aint really irish !!!!!

Me taking the p*ss. Surely shome mishtake! Take a look in the rubbish bin and look at some of the threads for the past year. Maybe you might find yourself a bit disillusioned.

As I said before my brief soujourn in May, I'm not a Celtic, whoops Luton, fan myself (although I like the drinking that goes on before and after their matches in London which I do frequent). I would be just as p*ssed off at someone suggesting that you're not Irish for not supporting 'Luton' as I was for somone saying you're not Irish for supporting them. Before, I get another red for talking too much to the ref, I TRY to stick to Irish football now on this site although the temptation for the odd dig about my ban is too much to resist, so you'll excuse me if I discontinue this subject. As I was told before, there are other sites out there dealing with 'Luton' I could go to.

Regarding Man Ure, there are many amongst us that are not au fait with Milton Keynes and Dublin's number one supported team. One poster even calls them 'the Munichs'. Personally I can't stand them even though my old man's a supporter and someone who first went to see them play when actually living in the same city that they play in.
