As we are a small company with no HR we basically use recruitment concultants as our HR. All contact with candidates is done via the recruitment agency. If the recruitment agency does not get back to an unsuccessful candidate then I would have way of knowing as assume they communicate the news.

I agree that it is the height of ignorance not to replay to interviewee with an answer.

In fairness, I think they have to act like that.

Recently in the AIB I went in, gave my name and address to a clerk, and they gave me a lot of money from my account. But I could have been anyone! Didn't ask for ID, my bank card, or any information about me. Bizarre.

No, because this is AIB so they don't have inquiries, they simply have a little chat before they all gather round to help lift the carpet, under which the matter will be swept.

Rudest people I dealt with were defo recruitment consultants. I was speaking to 30+ on average a day in my old job. Very rude and alot are very unprofessional.

Good example of how unprofessional they are...

We used 2 agencies to recruit an engineer last year so i dealt with directly. One of the agencies has added me basically to their spam list so they send me mails for positions we not recruiting. Because its essentially spam they have now spammed me with job details on job in my field - i think this is just an oversight becuase of nature of spam but it could be considered they trying to poach me for other company which i'm sure my current employer who paid them fees wouldn't be keen on (i hope).

    Recruitment consultants can be idiots.

A friend of mine was home from England recently, I was telling her about how I was trying to fill a vacancy on my team. She mentioned it to her cousin who subsequently told a friend of hers.

I know people keep saying Dublin's a small place but it turned out my friend's cousin's friend's CV had already been sent to me by the consultants we were using and I had it on hold just in case none of the first few interviewees were suitable.

In the meantime the consultant had told her the vacancy was filled when it was still very much open!

Recruitment agencies can be total @rseholes. A place i was temping for, I had a genuine query about a timesheet issue, and they just slammed down the phone on me. Also during quiet temping periods, I ring them up just to see whats in the pipeline (have the pay the rent you know, cant just sit around and wait for them to ring...) and just get a very blunt answer. Dont know why i bother...

I'm not joking, it must be 1 in 10 taxi drivers in Dublin.
Amazing, because any genuine Rovers fan who was there then and still goes will tell you their crowds fell in their final season of the Four In A Row.

It seems EL soccer fans in Dublin wouldn't go when a team was losing and stopped going when they were winning cause it was too boring. Well it was the 1980's and they probably all had to emigrate cause they lost their job or something!

The Galway Clampers are not liked in the city to say the very least! They once refused to open a clamp when a person had to be taken to hospital urgently....only for a Guard paid the fine himself they wouldn't have opened it!

Recruitment consultants..the power they have to get you a job if you need one must go to their head as the only explanation..

And people who work at Dell in Bray and Limerick and abroad. My job was to do the collect and return on them and they are utter utter @rseholes and when I tried to speak to the customer, they would think I was one of them and get their gruff..
