Colm, this Saturday City V Shels is a bigger game.
We don't need to be worrying about relegation fodder like Waterford, we have bigger fish to fry.

Definately, Saturday's game is our biggest league game in a long long time. Personally, I despise Shels far more than Waterford or Rovers or anyone and Saturdays game against Shels is probably bigger than any of our meetings with Waterford but it's a once off game. On an overall consistant basis though the Munster derby is the biggest game in Ireland along with Bohs v Rovers, it's just a pity that Waterford aren't a bigger club and a better team so we could have a more evenly balanced rivalry!!

I too wish it was more evenly balanced. They keep getting results against us, with one recent exception.

Yes colm it is a big game but if we lose it is not the end of the season for us. It is up to the team at the end of the day to get it right on the pitch.
Let's get it going for this year the away support.

Which El match has had the biggest attendence in the last few years?
    Derry v Harps play offs!
I know we are in different divisions and unfortunately it looks like it may be the same next year, with us going up and Derry going down!

Damain Richardson was getting veery sexual last night. He was going on about Aphrodisiacs and once you had the urge you cant stop. That once you get it you need to taste it.

No wonder the programme goes out after the watershed.

    Dictionary
    One entry found for aphrodisiac.

    Main Entry: aph·ro·di·si·ac
    Pronunciation: "a-fr&-'dE-zE-"ak, -'di-zE-
    Function: noun
Etymology: Greek aphrodisiakos sexual, gem with aphrodisiac properties, from aphrodisia heterosexual pleasures, from neuter plural of aphrodisios of Aphrodite, from AphroditE
1 : an agent (as a food or drug) that arouses or is held to arouse sexual desire
    2 : something that excites
    - aphrodisiac also aph·ro·di·si·a·cal /"a-fr&-di-'sI-&-k&l, -'zI-/ adjective

Have you been at one? It means as much and currently attracts bigger gates than any game "involving teams with more than one championship between them in the past thirty years".
Surely "biggest" game means the one that attracts the biggest crowd, not "biggest game" because a certain amount of people feel that way?
That's one interpretation of the "biggest game", but I can't say it's one with which most people would agree. Also, I've seen Colm refer to Cork City as the biggest club in Ireland, and I reckon that's what he and Dolan were getting at. If they'd said "best-supported", that would be fair enough, but a team in a weak league with only one championship to its name (eleven years ago), and which didn't even qualify for fully-fledged European competition this season can't, IMO, be considered the biggest club in that league.

Also, if attracting consistently big and enthusiastic crowds is the only criterion for the Big Club tag, then Newcastle and Manchester City would have to be considered two of the very biggest clubs in England. Which they're not.

I have to say though its rather funny to see so many Dubs, those from Dublin AND Longford, getting so uptight about criticisms of Dublin on a Cork forum. Of course, Dubs would NEVER criticise Cork.... , because you lot are always just having a windup and are gas comedians all together.
I think it's just the constant, tedious sniping that's p*ssing people off. And no, I can't say I ever hear any criticism of Cork City (or indeed city) from Dubliners except in reaction to provocation from down south. They certainly don't have a chip on their shoulder with regard to Cork. The simple fact is, lads, I and most other citizens of Dublin don't give a toss about being a "Dub" (it's only really GAAheads who do.)

A piece of serious advice: if you want Cork to be considered a real, cosmopolitan, Weldstadt-type city (which I'm sure it will be someday), you'll need to develop an attitude to match. In other words, drop the provincial mindset.

You're right though, Pat. Mum was from Limerick and paternal grandfather from Waterford. Not sure if that's better or worse from your point of view

Yeah, I noticed that myself! He could have left it at aphrodisiac, but just kept going down the sexual cul-de-sac.

King said last night that Bennetts comments "basically did Fenlons job for him by motivating the $hell$ players" ................ well King, ya little rat, I'd say you've just done the same, only with your comments you've fired up a whole nation ( The Peoples Republic of CORK ).

If our boys don't get motivated for this one - just to shove down their throats.

    Personally - I can't wait for Saturday.

They were right about one thing last night..........they'll be a hell of a "partizan crowd" in The Cross at 5pm.
    Irish by birth,
Cork by the grace of God.

Thats a fairly benign and slightly blinkered view. Dubs ONLY react?
Come on.... Just have a look at some of the MBs for Dublin clubs and, on one in particular, its constant anti-Cork rubbish, with a fair degree of censorship involved too.

Yes Cork is a small, close knit city, and like virtually every second city in the world seems to have a hang up regarding the state capital.

I'm sorry now but this is irony carried to the extreme!
Dublin is a city I lived in for a long time and like very much. Its the capital of Ireland, yet is also one of the most provincial English cities I know!

sorry but bohs v shels is the biggest. the last match in tolka must have had an attendence of over 5000 as did the game in dalymount. It is the most important clash as bohs and shels are the best two teams in the country and the game is the most entertaining. The truth is cork will never be the biggest team in ireland as i can't see you winning the league anytime soon. You don't play attractive football and pat dolan is overated.

North dublin has dominated the league of ireland for 5 years now and it will continue to do so.

the main thing is you ******s will never see success
ha ha ha ha ha haaaaaaaaaa did you just say rovers can play football ha ha ha ha haaaaaaaaaa

With that statement alone you have just discredited your whole post.

I think nearly everyone here will agree that in the past few months we have been playing by far the most attractive football in the el (and Europe!).

just look at Fenns goal last Friday against Pats a goal of "supreme quality" accordng to Rico on EL weekly.

A sweeping move from the full back position and what a finish!

No one can touch us for footballing ability. The "most technichal team in the league" according to Roddy Collins

Im prob the only one here (maybe Pete & Peadar too?) who has been to:

    City V Waterford
    Bohz V Rovers
    Shels V Bohz

so Id say that Ive had a better view than most on what is the "Biggest & Toughest"

Biggest between fans emotions is Bohz V Rovers
Biggest in fan numbers is City V Waterford & Shels V Bohs (IF the league depends on it)
Biggest in a football context is Shels V Bohz as in the last 4 years or so the winners have gone on to win the league

The toughest is City V Waterford coz the Blahs just kick lumps out of you and not the ball, atleast City, Bohz, Shels and Rovers try to play footie!

So the take home message of this post is:
    King is a muppet!
As I say, we're just young & a bit nieve.
