Interesting. Maybe McGeady had a word with Karpin (in English I assume).

I don't know CD, but I'd say Spartak would be up and down for him. For sure the club will be in the knock out stages of the CL, or at least in the Europa League, and next year they'll be Europa League pretty much for certain. I don't like the club (because of their fans and officials) though it would be a great move. He'd have a couple of good years there before playing his last 3 seasons in Oriel Park!

I'd imagine if he was to play LOI it would be with Finn Harps.

I'd be amazed to see Given go to Russia. He's not a young guy like McGeady, and he won't be making a huge difference to his standard of living, in fact he may even take a pay-cut to move there despite the tax situation. McGeady also knew a move could affect his earning power over the next 5-6 years if he performs on that stage. Again, that wouldn't be an issue for Given, at his age he'll be looking to move for the last time. Would he really move his family (McGeady only brought his girlfriend with him), to a very different culture, for less money and with no potential for growth in the future, just to win a Russian title?

If he was to go abroad I think it would be more likely to somewhere like Italy, where going by my Italian friends he's highly rated by their press, could earn good money, play in a big competition, in a less alien culture, and where it would be easier for him to either move his family over or commute to and from England.

Well seeing as he mentioned Harps on Soccer AM and was involved in their publicity campaign at the start of this season I think it would hardly be Derry.

Jicked, alien culture would be the same wherever he goes, while his earnings (especially with the very low tax rate) would we more than what he is on now. I'd safely say there would be more english spoken in Moscow than most Italian cities, though in terms of glory, you have it right, winning the league here and getting a good run in the CL wouldn't match up with challenging for Serie A, he has 3-4 good years at top level, so the world is still his oyster.

Guys, he'd go to Dundalk, sure it's on the border anyyway but with better shopping!

You people act as if they speak English in Newcastle. Or Lifford, for that matter. I don't think it's an issue.

We're talking about the end of his career here, not the onset of senility.

He'd want to join a club with a history...not one formed last year.

Shay moved to Man City - clearly history is no issue if success and ambition are on the table. And Man City never won a treble (not even in a past guise)....

You'd need a lot more than two contracts to cover his wages.

i thought Hart was very iffy against Blackpool today. Was nowhere for the first goal.
I like high energy football. A little bit rock and roll. Many finishes instead of waiting for the perfect one.

I wouldn't blame him for not saving the header, which was virtually unstoppable, but I can't believe he didn't have a man on the post. Very poor organisation.

It looks like a move on loan to Celtic is in the works. Pretty disappointing stuff, to be honest.

I didn't see it, but some clubs actually set up for corners with only one man on a post. Could this have been the case, rather than poor organisation?

Was going to say the same thing - some clubs have a policy of only having one man on the post, not necessarily the keeper's decision.

If we're talking about the first goal, it wasn't a corner, it was a freekick. Having people on the post would have allowed Blackpool players right in front of Hart.
