Anyone else got serious concerns that Hart might be City's number 1 next season?
No doubt if Hart is at citeh next season, the english media will be putting some pressure on him being made no 1.
They were doing the same thing when Given was signed. If Hughes can ignore them then Mancini can too. Fact is that experience is vitally important at the top level and the Italians know that better than anyone. I wouldn't say Hart is incapable of playing his way into the team but it's still Given's shirt to lose for me.
I would say that it is a possibility, especially if Hart was somehow to claim the English No 1 at the world cup. If he did well and if the unbelievable (I hope unbelievable) happened and England were to win it or nearly win it then there would be gigantic pressure for Hart to be the City No 1.
If I were the England manager I might pick Hart as my No 1. He lacks in experience but there are drawbacks with his other two options as well. Hart had a very good season for Bermingham so both posssibilities are not beyound the bounds of er possibility.
Not worried. You cant seriously have a keeper of Given's stature as an understudy. If hart is looking their number 1 they'll either sell Given or loan him out. It would be a bad bad idea to have him on the bench
City signed Hart 4 years ago from Shrewsbury, and he's still only 23. He's definitely in their long term plans as their number one goalkeeper. He'll challenge Given next season, but it'll be at least 2 seasons before he can seriously think of overtaking him
Frankly, I am not worried whether he'll be No 1 or No 83. I just want him to make a full recovery from what is a serious injury for a keeper. The rest will look after itself.
Forget about the performance or entertainment. It's only the result that matters.
Mancini is in a very tough situation with this one, hart having such a fabulous season is a real headache for him although a good one, we all know shay wants to play every single game, as stu taylor found out last year but there is no way harty will be content to sit on the bench for two years after having another season under his belt, one of these will have to give after this year and neither will take a loan deal unless city offer hart massive money to come back in 2012/2013. Very hard to say wholl move on.
If Given isn't 100 per cent fit by training camp, I could see Hart winning the starting job.
That said, Mancini seems to really rate Given, and regularly made him captain when Toure was unavailable for selection. I think I remember reading something about Mancini saying that Given was one of the best five goalkeepers in the world.
By all accounts Given is making a rapid recovery though, so touch wood he'll be ready for us in September and keeping his place at Man City.
Mate of mine met himself, keane, duff and carr in new york out for duffers stag night. He said shay was in flying form. Good news
Surely if Hart was the a better keeper than Given he would be starting every game for England. But he is not. Green and James are ahead of him and I don't know any journalist or coach, even English ones, who would be so biased as to put either of them ahead of Given. So If Hart is behind this pair, there is no way he will displace Given in the near future. He is stilll very much a work in progress, and I would not be surprised to see him going on loan or being sold in the summer.
Always look on the bright side of life
The english Keeper is probably capellos hardest decision for the world cup...on form it would have to be hart, experience wise obviously james but Green has started the most games recently, Hart is playing well at the moment but was very prone to mistakes, it will be interesting to see if he gets a go at the world cup as i think there is very little between the 3, either way my arguement is City want to keep hart in the long term and he wont stay there for more than a year not playing,
that said i think shay will retain the jersey this year, and if he ever decides to come for a cross he will hold it for 2 or more seasons

Manchester City will have two options if Shay makes a full recovery:
1) Loan Hart out again for the entire season
2) Sell Given to any one of the other nineteen Premiership clubs who would be happy to have him as their starting 'keeper.
