Lost island of Atlantis is finally found...

...and it is believed to be Ireland.

Dunno what you think, but I'm sure people could propose a couple of places where they thought the locals had webbed feet.
This is the cooooooooooooolest footy forum I've ever seen!

One major problem with his theory. Ireland was uninhabited during the time frames mentioned.

"Previous theories......locate it solely in the long-decayed brain of Plato."

Spot on. It's a pile of balls.

Are you talking about the real lake lands of Ireland (and not some wannabes from Cavan ) and All Ireland semi finalists Co. Fermanagh! I'll be setting Mammy O' Banton on you for comments like that

Hey less of it. Got my mother's home place being dissed on another thread so I don't need you and yer smart remark's about me dad's home place as well.
Anyway should'nt you not be recovering after yer 420 mile over night bus ride from Luton Instead of slagging off a place that's won the Ulster championship on it's way to an all Ireland semi final .
Anyway this Ulf Erlingsson, it would'nt be Patrick J's history teacher would it by any chance.
Its crazy to see people be what society wants them to be but not me.

    From BreakingNews.ie

On 11/08/2004, we published an article relating to a visit to Ireland by Dr Ulf Erlingsson, who has commented on a possible link between the geography of Ireland and that of Plato's Atlantis.

Dr Erlingsson has since contacted us to clarify his position on the subject as follows:

"Atlantis is a literary construction by Plato. The existence of Atlantis has never been proven. On the contrary, we know for a fact that it was a utopia, something that I point out on page 1 in my book Atlantis from a Geographer's Perspective: Mapping the Fairy Land. I quote: "Nobody by his right mind is denying that part of Plato's story about Atlantis is fiction."

"The purpose of the book is, however, to test Plato's other claim, namely that he based the utopia on a real, historic place.
Guess I'll have to cancel that order from China of 10,000 plastic "Welcome to Atlantis" cigarette lighters.
    Have Boot Disk, will travel
