Sligo may be short of a few quid at the moment, but as always, there supporters will rally around the club and see it good for the season. I don't think as many people know exactly how well embedded sligo rovers is in the community. This is their club and they wont let it sink, in fact I can see the club going from strength to strength now that for once they have hit the ground running at the start of the season.

You can have all the players you wanton the bench but you can still bring on Conor Powell with 5 minutes to go after watching "Killer the Bohs scum" getting a new aresehole torn for him.Seems to be Kenny's way of operating.
Is Powell not Bohs scum as well? Or Oman? Or Greene?
How sh1t do those boys have to play to get the full Shams experience?

If I were a Cork fan I'd be more worried about the League table than some other clubs fundraising activities!

I prefer to abuse them in advance in anticipation of them making an error.

    Just seen this thread
The fans in general were not asked to make a donation
Only members of the club and 500 club members
Our members do not pay an annual subscription like other clubs (shams, Bohs ?)
So just like other years members are asked to pay a voluntary donation of €100.
Cant believe the mass hysteria and joy in posts from fans of other clubs.
Sorry to dissappoint you all with the facts

Well then with, the greatest respect, you're a moron. And the club you love is taking you and the rest of your fans for morons.

I can't understand why Sligo fans aren't up in arms over this. How many times in the last 5 years has the club done this? Not only are the fans not blind with rage, with once again being asked to stump up cash but most seem happy to hand it over. I genuinely find it hard to grasp.

Blind rage? Ah, now - seriously, is it that hard to grasp?
    It's optional.

    This.

It answers all people need to know and shows why it isint really as big a deal.

Another daft thread that smells like it was born in the Always Ultras forum.
Manager: Fergal, have you your boots with ya?
Fergal: Ya, I have them here.
Manager: Ah good stuff, well give them to this man so, he forgot his!

Can see where Sligo are coming from on this. The Co-op structure has the inherent disadvantage when compared to members clubs that the membership/ share payment is a one off, meaning that the members clubs have an advantage in terms of annual income. It can also have the disadvantage that a relatively large share price can be off-putting, meaning that people who have long since lost interest still have a say while people who'd like to be involved may not be able to pay the share price in one go. I think people at Harps have been looking at a transition towards an annual membership fee but legally it's a tricky one. Plus people signed up on the basis of permanent share ownership and may resent a change, especially if they can't now afford a subscription. I suspect a compromise very similar to Sligo's may be the end result- i.e. no legal change but a request for a voluntary annual payment.

On the other hand the press release makes links this to the summer break and therefore gives the impression of financial difficulty when really this early in the year there shouldn't be. Maybe that's no harm to get people motivated to pay. But obviously people are going to look at what was posted on the Sligo site and suspect there are problems afoot.

I'm going to stick with original guess that Sligo's board have been concerned about foot's traffic levels and therefore were deliberately somewhat vague in order to get a bit of buzz going.

This is a non issue for most Rovers fans, most are unaware of it, I only became aware of it on this site. I expect nothing but badness from Dale Farm, it being the default of the stupid, but the incipient gloating from some other clubs is disappointing.

Good post Mr.A. Somthing that ye might consider is what has recently been added to at Rovers. If youre a 500 club member for 3 years (from now on) you become a full member.

How much do Shams 400 Club Members pay each year?
The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.

It's one thing if that's the structure from the start.. it's harder to change an existing structure. Personally I'd like to see membership fees come in at around the €100 a year mark and also agree with redobit's idea- I know this has been suggested previously.

400 club doesn't exist anymore...it is now Rovers' members' club.

€50 per month, with no further 'donations' when money is down and lack of home games are...wait for it...budgeted for.

    The Model Club

Tell all the Bohs you know
that we've gone and won two-in-a-row
and it's not gonna be three
and it's not gonna be four
it's more likely to be 5-1.
