    Was at the match last night and i must say fair fcuking play. when that goal went in i was nearly crying. Great occasion and all eircom teams will benefit from it, not in a big way but you will notice it anyway.

    Great atmosphere and shels deserved the win.

    Tolka should be used for next week as last night was a special occasion for everyone in the ground but i can understand why they moved it.

    shels have no chance of beating deportivo, they are a super team and would destroy anybody if playing well. this is why shels should get every penny they can and then when the uefa comes along they can buy one or two players to strenghten their squad.

    more neutrals will come to lansdowne before they would go to tolka.

    i am also a bit annoyed by the negative views on other sites saying that shels will dominate the league now well this is bull****. the league is very tight and 4 teams can still win the league. They have too much money to spend on other things off the pitch before they will put anything to improve the club on the pitch. what would you prefer to see, an irish team in the group stages that gets the league plenty of coverage or the situation we have now.

    is the belgian,dutch,croatian,serbian,russian,swedish,dan ish league dominated by one team since they all have had a team qualify for the group stages? NO.

    well done shels, i will be in lansdowne anyway.
    ha ha ha ha ha haaaaaaaaaa did you just say rovers can play football ha ha ha ha haaaaaaaaaa

    But if things go a certain way, we could. Look at Rosenbourg, we're starting to dominate it now even, 4 points off, won it the year before, the year after, almost certain to win it this year. With another 1 million plus to spend on training, resources, players it's not hard to imagine a Shels 10-point win in two years, which would be bad for the league.

    We're not almost certain to win it this year and the money from playing Depor isn't nearly enough to create a Rosenborg situation. If we beat Depor maybe we would be looking at that but if not we wont be dominating for the next ten years like some people seem to think.

    We have had great nights/results in Europe - but when considering the best you have to consider ties won.

    I saw Limerick draw with Southampton at the Dell - Keegan et al - we nearly beat Real Madrid etc but we were never in with a shout of progressing. they mean more to me as a Limerick fan however Shels achievement on Wednesday was the greatest ever for the league.

    One offs like Bohs beating Kaiserslautern, Drumcondra beating Bayern Munich were achieved while still exiting the competition. Bohs beating Aberdeen has to be their best ever result not one offs like Rangers or Kaiserslautern.

    We've only ever had 3 teams get through 2 rounds - Dundalk beat Linfield and Hibs of Malta in 1979 hardly major footballing powers albeit if Tommy McConville had scored v Celtic it would have been different. Cork had a great run in the Inter Toto this year.

    Hadjuk Split are Croatian champions - they harboured real hopes of playing in the champions league group stages.

    That is a crazy crazy statement! And i'm not just saying that because we could actually go top tonight. I don't believe Drogheda will win the league but having seen Shels a good bit recently you have looked far from invincible (Split game aside!). I reckon we could push you all the way, as will Cork and Bohs. There is still alot of football to be played and you coould well rue that statement...

    People thougth Bohs & Shels would run away with the league every year since going fulltime & eventhough they've won the last 2 leagues they haven't completely dominated.

    Shels and Bohs have won the last 5 leagues between them and finished 1st and 2nd in three of those seasons.

    Don't agree. Seen a fair bit of Cork - they won't win it. Bohs are managerless - hardly inspiring confidence. You rule out Drogs yourself. Who else can match Shels?

    The threat to Shels winning the league is getting in Champions League or long tiring UEFA Cup run. But they have a good set up. They have players who are among the best in the league in every position. I think it's theirs.

    And it's only closed up now as other teams - Cork and Drogs - have gone full time too. It's only 3 or 4 seasons (if that) that Bohs and Shels have been totally full time...

    Cork or Drogheda will not win the league because they are too inconsistent.

    example cork beat waterford 2-0 and then lose to drogheda 2-0

    drogheda beat bohs 1-0 and then bohs beat them 3-0 not forgetting St Pats two wins against drogheda.

    Shels will win it unless bohs can get a run of wins like last year.

    1st= shels
    2nd= bohs
    3rd= cork

    cup winners= shamrock rovers ( it's gonna be their year)

    And you're not with two losses to Dublin City

    Before you beat us we'd gone ten in a row unbeaten, and the two recent losses have come in or around the Euro games, when IMO players were either distracted or just plain knackered, but we didn't play badly in those games.

    IF (and it's not that big an if) we win tonight and beat Shels next weekend, the top three will look something like (if Drogs win two)...

    if City then win the game in hand against DCFC, it's all to play for.

    Like Cork, Shels euro exploits are bound to affect their performances in the league. They have at least another 4 games to play in Europe.

    My understanding of it is the league itself has a different co-efficent to the clubs, the league itself gains a third of every point gained by the clubs but do the clubs gain the full co-efficent? Hopefully I'm making some sense.

    If Shelbourne are on 3.3, roughly, it means next year, if we do win the league, we're seeded in the first round and if we get some more points were pushing pretty close to going straight into the second round aren't we?
    'Fraid not! Club coefficients are half the national coefficients plus any points gained in proper rounds only (i.e. non-qualifying). So youz are still at square one, though Bohs, with their win over Kaiserslautern four years ago, have an extra point for one more year, which is why they were nearly seeded in the Second Round draw of the UEFA Cup (had they gotten there obviously...).

    But a result in the First Round of the UEFA would change that.

    you havent exactly been the model of consistancy yourselves.why cant drogheda win it just because they dont have as big a names in their squad as yee.i most cetainly would not rule them out of the top three btw.

    Don't forget, finishing in the top two is vital this season. It means not only do you get UEFA cup or champions league but also the Setanta Cup which is huge in terms of attracting fans to teams through the TV exposure and the prizemoney.

    Bohs may not be consistent themselves but at the end of the day, our squad is much stronger than cork or drogheda and with dominic foley just signing, we have a good chance

    Bohs have nothing to keep their minds of the title, while cork and drogheda watch each other and worry about each others results, bohs will slip in and win the league. remember the date when i say this cause i have a fiver on bohs at 6-1 to win the league.

    we are challengers and i hope shels do well in europe for the sake of the league but they can fcuk off if they think tolka is holding onto the cup for another year.

    all together now , we want our trophy back we want our trophy back ect
    ha ha ha ha ha haaaaaaaaaa did you just say rovers can play football ha ha ha ha haaaaaaaaaa
