I wouldn't expect a massive increase personally. If we've averaged 600+ this year I think somewhere in around 900ish might be as good as it gets in a first year up (an increase of 50% to be fair which is not to be sniffed at). Two factors which could impact on that figure will be how we do (obviously) and where we're playing. If we are back in the Market's Field we'd be higher I think, particularly in the first few games. At that point I think a lot of it would come down to results. If we were to stay up I could see bigger crowds, after all the years in the doldrums the club will have to prove to the general sporting public in the city that they're the real deal so to speak.
The ball is round and has many surprises.

A lot depends on where we're playing and how we're playing!

I'd say you'll roughly be looking at the following:

    1200-1500 games: Sligo, Shamrock, Cork.
    800-1200 games: Bohs, Pats, Derry.
    500-800 games: Bray, UCD.

Outside Shamrock and Sligo does anyone in the Premier bring crowds anymore?? Obviusly Cork would bring a lot to Limerick.

The big factor will be form. We can have all the top tier games we want, but if we're losing most of them the crowds will stop turning up. Just like Mons.

    Well, relatively speaking.

It was mentioned here that half of those were Drogs fans, was that actually the case?
The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.

No! Roughly 1,000 Drogs fans I'd have thought

Exactly, if we can hit the ground running with good results the crowds will be strong. As usual though Irish sports fans are very very fickle. The Markets Field will have a big part to play in drawing the crowds also, if the club fail to deliver on that promise it will bring back a lot of negativity towards the club and crowds will deteriorate.

Very good crowd, especially with the weather being crap.

Great atmosphere too, one of the best all season. Wonder how many will turn up in two weeks for the last game? Regardless of what happens between now and then, Limerick will go into it looking to get a trophy.

IF we are lifting the trophy last game of the season I can see the crowd hitting the 1,500 mark.

550 extratime estimate in Finn Park tonight. I'd say that's about right. About 10 or 15 Waterford fans up. Fair played to them.

The drop in 1st Division averages can be put down to some concrete factors - 1. continued economic doom and gloom, 2. Lack of "name" clubs with good following, 3. Lopsided nature of team numbers and matches, 4. Belief from before the season that it was going to be a 1 team league.

It does give a little bit of credence to a single league set up, lots of those 1st Division clubs would get bumper crowds and the benefits related to this. But then, what else will be done?

Showgrounds looked really good on TV. It was my first time seeing the new seated area behind the goals .
