Gary Cronin is he the right man to manage Longford Town?
Why does this thread always seem to end up with first division fans arguing whether there was 75 or 100 people at a game?
That or coming up with excuses as to why nobody was arsed going.
Cue Shamrock fan arguing that First Division fans never argue about attendances or make up excuses.........
Also, no way there was 350 in Athlone Friday night.![]()
LImerick getting near a thousand a home game prob the best in the league huge potential if we get up to the premier next season with a new stadium playing the likes of shamrock rovers, cork, bohs, Derry, Silgo our attendance would hit between 3 and 4 thousand IMO.
Smallest away crowd we've had travel so far. About 50 travelled to Limerick and a bit more in Athlone. Good response to running away buses this year and the usual 15 or so that travel to every away game regardless in their cars.
Really? Wasn't there 820 at Harps and 620 against SD Galway?

Ya we aren't near the thousand yet. The 620 at SD Galway is encouraging though seens as a match like that would only usually pull in 300-400 people max. If we keep a run going I can see us getting around the 1,000 mark regularly and maybe a little over for bigger games. If we lose on Friday or put in a poor performance it will seriously dent any hopes of keeping the crowds in big numbers regularly.
For away games we seem to be bringing the bones of 100 but the trips to Harps and Wexford will probably be less than that. The other trips have been doable for most people after work.
you would be wrong I reckon along with playing top teams but the main reason iv predicted that is moving to our new stadium a 8,100 all seater which is in a excellent location in the city were we are now is a nightmare its a awful setup and location there are better junior grounds in Limerick.
We're obviously not close to 1000 a season at the moment, and I actually think that for league games, we won't get 1,000 more than once or twice this season, if at all.
After so many years in the first, it's hard to gauge what kind of crowds we'd get in th premier. One thing that following Limerick hs taught me is that a lot of our apparently loyal fans will abandon the team at the first sign of anything less than success.
Wonder will there by any updated lists of all the teams this year......................loads of work for whoever but its always great to see the averages.......
EDIT: Attendances have come from Extratime.ie or estimates from Foot.ie

can you put in that our 2009 seasons and before are premier seasons
They would automatically be classed as that, as with everyone elses by being in the Premier. They're Premier unless stated otherwise. Likewise, in the first division, it would be First, unless stated otherwise.

Averages would have been so much better in the first division if the FAI had a bit of sense and included GUST instead of Salthill. Not one average even close to 1,000 in the First for the first time in years I'd imagine. Unless Harps have a big promotion push I can't see that changing either.
