Question CCFC Board of Directors businessmen

Thinking of how we brought all the news players in this year for nada reminded me of last year.....

Last year the Board got in Mountfield (probably costing more than Gunther does now), Commerical Manager & paid big money (in ccfc & eL terms) for Devine & Mulligan. And they also made a good few more players fulltime.

The question is how the Directors thought last season they could pay for all this & continue to pay for it whilst this year the clubs taken a big step back.

I know crowds were better a couple of seasons ago but did we think they could continue at that level? Didn't these businessmen plan for a lean team rebuilding season when crowds would drop off & success on the pitch would take time?

We've all said it before but how could these apparently successive businessmen woith their own companies etc... be so naive to expect instant success with CCFC. Could they be just clueless about football? Suppose if they attended afew more games they might learn something?

    Pete ... i thought

all those moves on behalf of the board were great, maybe too much too soon, but never the less in the right direction. The best thing that could happen for the club to return to that is success, if we come away with silverware this year. It will be great to boost interest around the City. And hopefully a few more at the cross. Thing is keeping them there. !!

    Question try to say....

In my usual long winded way was trying to make the point that somehow they thought the club had loads of cash to do move forward the way they did last year (btw i'm sayin they good things to do) but suddenly we gone full circle this year

Maybe they bored with their hobby? If they don't move forward too much won't have much to do?

Ahh jeez think i've been living in the big smoke too long getting ideas above my stature

Guys ... who actually is there though

Who actually is there on Sunday, (Home Games) Brian Lennox is always there, i am certain of that.

Michael O'Leary i would have thought is always there. I have seen him at nearly every game, unless i am mistaken.

Terry Dunne was at the cross a good few times while at the reigns and he is from Kerry.

I think there is a good few "offical" members there alright, but i agree, they will never learn anything while they are swilling bottles of bubbley and stuffin' their faces with prawn sambos.

me thinks they saw the $heliban going pro, boez were doing it also so thought...hey lets copy them..they spent lots of cash without any planning behind it and it backfired because lets face it our board aint nowhere near as knowledgeeable about footie, or as prepared to plough in fresh money as say the $heliban or da boez

yea pete too long in the smog man, the smoke wrecks you're eyes.

I'm beginning to wonder if goalside is ON the board! Everything he says is totally pro-board, and he's freaking at anyone who doesn't agree!

Less of the conspiracy theories now Éanna. Just because someone doesn't agree with your opinion doesn't mean they're wrong. Course, in this case goalside is wrong, but that's not the point...

It's Vetinari. It's easy to spell, it says it next to my post, in big bold text.

And no, I don't particularly like the Cork City FC board. I had to deal with them for 3 years, and for the most part, it was an utter pain in the arse. I've met and talked to most of the directors, and nearly all struck me as obnoxious, rude, arrogant and uncaring about the club. The only one who really seemed to want the club to succeed was Noelle Feeney, and she's seen as the club lackey by most of the rest of the board.

The fact that most of them are successful businessmen in their own fields just serves to demonstrate that it's not incompetence that makes the club what it is, but lack of real interest. It's a hobby to them, and that is not a recipe for success. Sure, they might win games, they might even win the league, but that will never make Cork City FC a successful business, and that's what makes the Eircom League a joke.

Does that sound like sour grapes? Ask anyone else who's had to deal with them, you'll find at least two on this board. I think you'll find they agree with me.

Just what the blazes is that supposed to mean!! If you're going to make comments like that, have the guts to tell everyone who you are-like me and several others. This is why people complain about the baord.
BTW, I do think certain members of the board are doing a good job, while certain others are not only there for the ride- but seem to be intent on taking the p*ss as well!

come to think of it goalside the fact that you posted DURING our match against rovers almost confirms that you're on the board- sure what would a director be doing at a match? !

A: Either someone who is deliberately spelling badly, grammatically incompetent and trying to sound like a 9 year old child
    OR
B: someone who genuinely thinks and "talks" like that.

[A] could be someone from the club/Echo trying to act "under cover" or else someone taking the p*ss.

[B] is a completely naive relative/friend of LM? or someone involved in the club who cannot express themself properly.

I can think of someone very involved in the club who fits the
    semi-illiterate profile !!

But really, it HAS TO BE A WINDUP MERCHANT !!!!!
