Shels-Sligo would have been the better game in fairness, bit of spice from the cup final. As far as the other games go like it or not Rovers are the highest profile club in the country, regardless of us being involved they are mostly Dublin derbies and have the potential to be entertaining (not always the case), athmosphere is always great, and of course Rovers-cork is potentially a top of the table clash.

Haven't heard anything about that but from the 5 weekends they are showing games we have 2 games at home.

One of those is v Bohs and we have already moved that to the same night as the Cork Shams game that's on TV

The other one is the Dundalk at home which is the day after Shams Bohs game which was always going to be shown first.

RTE could have shown the Bohs game easily enough if they were that concerned about showing us

First game is the chamions game. Usually is. After that they've picked probably the games of the weekend 9at least 5/6 weeks in advance they look that way. No big deal.

More people would watch a re-run of a BBC nature programme than a LOI game. lets not kid ourselves here

You would have thought the Derry v Cork game on the 23rd March would be a better game to show than Bohs v St Pat's? Wont complain too much as it would probably affect the crowd, sorta glad we aren't on live at home yet, would like to see a bigger crowd at ames

I actually prefer Pats not being on tv. Usually moved to a crap time/day (poxy Sunday) and tends to affect the crowd in a big way which I don't think is made up by the money the television company gives you for showing it and I also don't believe anyone would watch a Pats game in Richmond and say I want to go there next week, looks pretty poor on tv
    Here on a technicality.

The Beeb do good nature programmes, hardly a fair comparison.

Dunno if that's wholly a Pats issue, a lot of the televised games can be a bit underwhelming. A combination of poor production, mediocre facilities and sods law decreeing that the games seem to be scrappy combining...
The ball is round and has many surprises.

Clubs are not interested in scheduling games to suit supporters, most games are on a normal working day and in LOI, it's the employee not the customer, who is king.

Most people watching on tv imo are either LOI fans who can't get to their own game, or bored barstoolers watching the league for a laugh.

I think you're right about that.

I watch it when I can't get to our away games, as do my sons. My dad watches it to slag it off.

I only watch games on tv if im not at a game. I don't think i can make Derry away so would have liked to have seen that on tv. Watching on tv is better than nothing. Cork City vs Shamrocks wont bother me as i will be at the game.

According to an RTE staffer that's the game RTE were going to show but when they rang Sligo looking to move the kick off time to 7.05 they were fobbed off and told someone would call them back but with the shambles Sligo are at the moment it's not surprising that they never called RTE back.

Or..they probably told them they can stick their TV cameras up their holes if they weren't getting any money for moving their kick-off time.

Which, as outlined above, would be short sighted and incredibly stupid. I wonder how Donegal Creameries would react if we were to turn down the chance to be on TV (unlikely I know!).

Honestly don't get why clubs would complain about moving games, for RTE anyway. With Setanta or the like they may have a point as the times tend to be worse and the exposure is way less, but still.

You would I guess, they have picked a Cork game in their early schedule though and probably won't feature too much of Cork at the same time unless they establish themselves. I'd prefer to be watching Derry v Cork.

Youre damed if you do and damed if you dont - gate receipts Vs Advertising.

I dont think clubs should be put in this position by the FAI. They harp on about the importance of budgets and then make clubs choose where they would like to loose potential revenue.
Manager: Fergal, have you your boots with ya?
Fergal: Ya, I have them here.

Your RTE staffer contact is either a figment of your imagination or is feeding you a big load of BS.

The TV companies deal with the FAI (not the clubs) on live broadcast requests and any re-scheduling issues.
