Fanad are not in the FAI cup this year.

Harps, Monaghan, Sligo and Derry in the pot for our section of the League cup draw.

some cracking goals at the Cross last night. Lovely finish from about the edge of the box from Daryl Horgan to open the scoring (no bookie between my house and the ground would give me odds on first goalscorer and I wanted to back Daryl!). Kalen Spillane haas been watching Gav Kav and let loose from 30-40 yards out, while the Wexford keeper must have been taking goalkeeping tips from Oscar Jansson. The pick of the night though was either Davin O'neills left fooot curler from outside the box (hes right footed) or the spectacular attempt from Wexfords goal scorer to beat Burns from a miles out, not quite the half way line but not far off I'd say.

Oh and tadgh got on the scoresheet! Delighted for him

Just seen on the Derry website that they drew Finn Harps in the 2nd round.

Can't find the rest of the draw anywhere? Does anyone have it?

Interesting draw. Limerick v Cork should be a cracker. Couple of decent derby matches there.

a couple - exactly! despite the fact that its a "regional" draw - theres only two games that are close to being called derbies!

I would have said 4, if not 5 of them would be classed as derbies.

    Limerick v Cork City
    St. Patrick’s Athletic v U.C.D.
    Derry City v Finn Harps
    Sligo Rovers v Monaghan United

    All derbies in my view.

Shelbourne v Bray could technically be classed as a derby because lets face it, Bray is a suburb of Dublin at this stage.

If you are going to class Sligo v Mons as a derby you may as well do the same with Bray v Shels, neither is a Derby IMO

It's as close to a derby as Sligo have really.

Why not? They're in Dublin, so, it's a Dublin derby.

I know it is a Dublin Derby but its like London Derbies some have real rivalry some just don't matter....
Cant see any Pats,Bohs,Rovers or Shels fan getting excited about a game against UCD like they would playing each other.

That's a different matter altogether, whether they have a big rivalry or not, they're still a derby match.

True i just wouldn't be getting excited about a derby match involving UCD most derbies give a bit of extra bite or excitement to games.

Of course, nothing beats the rivalrys that come with big derby matches. Being a Harps fan wouldn't be the same for me if it weren't for the big derby with Derry.
