    Yep.

Let's see if I can get this straight.

Chelsea won the CL, they hadn't qualified through the league.

Spurs had qualified by league position, but after the whole liverpool row a few years ago each country is limited to 4 CL places.

So Chelsea as CL holders go straight into the group stages.

Spurs go into the the EL (this bit night be slightly more complicated because chelsea should have been in as fa cup winners).

But Spurs would have started in the CL qualifiers. So there some teams bumped up a round to make a full set of fixtures possible.

The knock on effect of that is one less team to parachute from CL qualifiers to EL qualifiers, so it needs a bit of re-jigging too.

And that may not be the last of it, depending on what happens in the spanish cup final next week

    Probably explained better here

So, both Zestafoni and Metalurgi won in Georgia, to finish level on points.

With no ofiicial confirmation I'd tell you I think the champions are, but someone might disagree.

They are having an emergency meeting tomorrow to confirm who are top.

At least we've found a league as badly run as ours.

Technically, Metalurgi are top but you never know what could happen.

If they decide metalurgi win Zestafoni will bring it up to Uefa no doubt.
Seems Metalurgi are like a Sporting Fingal team, only around 3 years and the majority of the leagues fans are Zestafoni.

Would Dinamo Tblisi not be the most supported team in Georgia?

I'd be surprised if Soccerway is wrong. They are usually correct, even with Mickey Mouse leagues like Georgia... and Ireland.

Zestafoni win appeal, Shamrock Rovers unseeded.

    http://translate.google.com/translat...-17-18&act=url

Overall I think the league has done well to have Pats seeded in the first 2 rounds, Bohs the first.

Rovers could always get Helsingborgs, beating them takes their seeding for round 3. Latvia and Lithuania our hope.

So, technically, Rovers are unseeded for round 2, but, they could possibly be seeded for round 3? Am I picking this up right?

Couple of very tough games though to get past first, and unless a goalkeeper is found, I don't see them passing one round unfortunately. Should do all they can to sign Gabriel Sava or someone along those lines in the transfer window.

The Draw for round 3 is made during the round 2 tie. So say we are playing Bate Borisov they will use their seeding in the draw.
    eg. Bate/Rovers v Flora Tallinn/Ekranas

If a league of Ireland team was to ever get in to the playoffs now it would be by beating Helsingborg/Bate and being seeded in round 3

Would you not fancy your chances against Partizan again this season?
I phoned the speaking clock to hear a voice speak, it said - "At the tone you will be very much alone"

Irish teams have beaten Swedish oppenents 4 of the last 6 times. All Rovers need is a keeper and a defence, and who knows?

The first and second rounds are drawn at the same time and the third round is drawn between the 2 legs of the second round, so the seedings in the 2nd & 3rd rounds are done on the assumption that the seeded teams for the previous round all qualify. Therefore, if an unseeded team beats a seeded team, they take their seeding into the next round, which may (or may not) lead to them being seeded in the subsequent round.

I'd give Rovers a decent shout against most of the lower seeded teams. Though there's some tough ones, even at that end of the seedings... As others have said, the Latvian/Lithuanian teams would be the pick. Maybe even Zestafoni.

I've been watching plenty of Polish football this year and that team Slask Wroclaw would walk over Rovers unfortunately, I fear it's going to be game over for Rovers after just one round, it'll be odd for them after last season.
