    Time to Beat Waherfur

about time we gave them a good kicking. we are clearly a bigger club, a better team, bigger support and.........better looking

Seriously though our run of late is the start of something big and i would expect at least a 2 goal win on friday night

I'd like to go along with that because I hate it when we lose to them, but I reckon this is probably gonna be one of the harder games we have for the rest of the season. It is coming at a time when we're either gonna come out with all guns blazing and hammer them or come out with tails between our legs and let them beat us again.

I'd be very wary about the next couple of games

Never mind beating them. Its about time that we started hammering small-town nobody teams like waterford. we've shown we can compete with excellent clubs in europe, so the likes of waaaaaaaherfur shouldn't be an obstacle

nothing cocky about it. we've shown what we're capable of, now we just have to do it consistently. malmo, NEC and nantes are all miles better than most sides in the eL and we showed how we could compete against them, so it would be a terrible shame if we were to drop back a level and not put poorer teams to the sword

May I just be the first to wish waaherfurh all the best in their impending battle with relegation.

Its always good to have a local rivalry in the same division.

    Same aul Cork

looking forward to seeing good aul' Cork getting back to their more usual displays over the next few days. The usual bananaskin in Belfield Park and the near customary crumbling in the face of ye're intimading Munster superiors should see everything return to normal on leeside...ye're ****e but god why don't ye know it!?!

    .................................................. .

Alright lads, hold off there a while like ..... they raised the game for Europe and were allowed play good quality football. This wont happen in the league. I think we should look at supporting the team for the next three months without getting on their backs. We have to play half the seasons games in three month FFS ..... we are not going to win them all, we might even get a bad run, but that will be no reason to throw the rattler out of the pram. Chill the fúck out and get behind the lads and we might even do well. There is enough pressure now besides us get on their backs. .
The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.

The difference in playing styles between Europe and the EL has been worn out on other threads so I won't get into it. Its a totally different game and I'd be happy with a one-nil scoreline in this one. Hope fans don't get on the lads' backs if we're not 6-0 up at half time. I know we have high standards here, which can be a good thing at times, but the players shouldn't be under pressure from the crowd if things aren't going our way week in week out.

city wont get half as much time on the ball against wahhurrforrr as they did in europe which wont suit them.players aren't able to express themselves in the EL like theywould in europe where they get more time on the ball.

Are you going in to this one Ollie? Think Eve is driving in. Not sure if she has room in the car tho cos she's got friends from Liverpool coming over and their going in too. I can ask her if you want. She's getting tickets tomorrow too.

    Any win..

Any sort of victory will do in all our games from now on.We were left play football during the Euro run but from now on we will be playing mostly kickers like Waterford Friday and Drogs Monday. In fact UCD play better football than most teams so that will suit us.Besides them Bohs seem to be the only team that are willing to take the ball down and pass it around.I hope we dont get to cocky about our good run.We still have won nothing and we are leaving ourselves wide open to supporters from every club.Waterford are a good team and a last minute goal and a 1-0 win will be fine by me...

Four 1-0 wins for City would give us 39 points and a good goal difference.

    Shelbourne--------22 11 08 03 29 17 12 41
    Cork City----------21 11 06 04 27 19 08 39
    Drogheda United---21 09 05 07 21 18 03 32
    Bohemians---------20 08 07 05 29 20 09 31
    Waterford United---22 08 06 08 26 30 -4 30

*Note: I've adjusted the other teams statistics to only reflect their results against us for those teams we'll play in our next 4 scheduled games.

This has become the most important game of the season.
We MUST play well and display the same commitment, ability and belief we showed in Europe.
Its not so much about the 3 points, more about how a better team, City, can break down and beat an inferior side who rely entirely on physicality.
I believe there is a real danger that our season ended last Saturday night, unless we get to grips with the fact that most teams here are going to try to beat us by outmuscling us. We don't seem to be able to cope with this, and until we can, we are never going to get near the league title.

This is a must win game for us because we need to pick up maximum points from our games in hand.C'mon CITY.The ground will be half empty if the weather is as sh!t as it now tomorrow night so it's up to the rest of us to spur our lads on and lift them after our Ucd defeat.

The games this weekend are vital and unfortunately the results are more important than the performances.

The inter toto run will be useless (apart from raising money)unless we can get on a good league run and keep the extra people who came to the euro games coming back to league games.

No doubt this morning they're saying "typical City, losing to UCD". I know I am.

The reality is anything other than another Euro qualification will be a disaster.

is this up there with City's most important games ever?

A win and the show is back on the road.....

    A loss.............i dread to think

With the amount of money that has been spent second place at least is a must and a win friday and maybe a draw monday but preferablt 2 wins
