second league defeat, a rare win by a kerry team over limerick fc at under 19/20/21 age but fully deserved as at times it looked as limerick were down a man such was the the run of play. pressure now on Limerick to bounce back as nothing short of a league win is surely acceptable.

At least it's now clear that there is promotion - the Northern Champions play the Southern Champions, with the winners promoted to the Elite Division.

Are you sure? I vaguely recall reading that the winner of both North & South are promoted with 2 elite teams relegated.
I havent got the rules to hand now to check it.

Checked the rules and theres nothing in it about promotion/relegation, dont know where I got the got the notion of 1 promoted from each regional division.

The North/South final appears to be what's happening according to this, anyway.

thats just shoddy, there is no play off game as it is the winners of both southern and northern divisions go straight up. there is no play off.

What's meant to happen I believe, is the top two in each division are meant to go up. But the club chooses if they wish to go up or not. Some clubs don't want to play in the Elite league.

The winner of each division north and south is fair and a good system, should they both accept the opportunity to join the Elite.

    Why SHOULD they?

It's all well and good there at present, no clubs are really much more than 3 hours away from each other.

If Harps/Derry (1st and 2nd in Northern Div) were to get promoted it would mean travelling to Cork, Waterford, Wexford, etc every 2nd week, very costly.

Dundalk were originally in the Elite but withdrew due to the costs, Drogheda took their place.

Ideally we would love to be in the Elite but it's too costly and time consuming, we also have alot of guys at College/doing leaving cert which isn't ideal when travelling the country every second week.

Personally, I think the winner of north and south should earn promotion as a reward for winning their division. If they decide to opt out because of costs, like Dundalk, then it's fair enough that they stay where they are.
