Hopefully he'll get a look at Hourihane anyway.

Hourihane who Roy would be familiar with, signing him for Sunderland 8 years ago as a 16 year old and also signed for Ipwich.

Still eligible, as far as I know. Even though there was talk of it, I don't think he ever switched to IFA nor has he represented anyone else, to best of my knowledge.

Interesting Keane went to a League One game. I hadn't thought someone playing at that level would be considered for a senior call-up (Forde is different).

He could have been looking at any/some/all of Conor Wilkinson, Conor Hourihane, Daniel Crowley and Anton Rodgers. I'd be surprised if Rodgers, Wilkinson or Hourihane were called up (even though he 's signed Hourihane in the past and he has impressed, it's a level below the level he'd need to impress at first). I don't think he'd need to see Crowley play as I'm sure the lad merits an under 21 call-up. Maybe he was going to have a chat with Crowley and took the game in out of courtesy? I hope it's Crowley-related. No offence to the others, but they have a bit left to do before senior consideration.

The Irish Times story hasn't much in the line of evidence. Do you, by any chance, have some solid info for us?

I think this would represent a big statement if Crowley were to switch to us.

I'd love to actually ascertain the extent of Crowley's Irish roots. Similar to JG, he was a keen Gaelic footballer. It took long enough to confirm that 3 of Grealish's grandparents had been born in Ireland and had two English-born parents (I think a few rags had his father down as Irish-born).

This article http://www.balls.ie/football/dan-cro...ireland/132706 has his old coach stating that "he visits his folks in Waterford regularly." That suggests his grandparents are in Waterford, does it? In which case it's likely his father emigrated and was born in Ireland.

On the other hand, it seems his father was a handy player who came through the ranks at Coventry: http://www.coventrytelegraph.net/spo...-signs-7563919

No word on his mother's side yet, I don't think.

As I said, it'd be a big statement for a third generation lad to switch to us definitively, when he's one of the brightest prospects in England and they are very keen on him.

    EDIT:
And here's a tweet from a while ago of him and his baby cousin in Ireland. First cousin would suggest his father is Irish-born but could also be second cousin. There's an aul lad in the background happy out anyway!:

Grealish family might not be as keen on the Ireland jersey as the Crowley clan: https://instagram.com/p/YfmpFqxXnF/

Grandparents are from Tramore as far as I know and still live there. His mother's side as far as I recall are from Kerry. I recognise his grandad.

States below father born in Coventry which would probably mean grandparents returned here rather than the dad being born in Ireland.

I don't really see how one is relevant to the other. It's a decision of the heart after all, or at least it should be. No set rules.

    Great stuff, thanks for that.

Never heard anything about his mother. Everything seems to relate to the father and grandparents' Waterford roots. In Kerry we can now claim a connection to both Crowley and Grealish!

EDIT: That goal above is not going to do us any favours over the next month. Gorgeous finish. Note it was England cap Jamie Vardy that lost his marker on that one.
