I thought that too Grafter. He’s probably our best ball playing defender available. That said, would there be any appetite to have Keogh in there ahead of O’Shea? I’d suggest not. Probably worth a recall for Keogh to squad though. He’s made a remarkable recovery really.

That's a great point. Why not?

Can't agree with that. We have three EPL regulars - Clark, Egan and O'Shea - and Long who gets regular call-ups. At C'ship level there's the promising Nathan Collins and long-time Championship regular Darragh Lenihan.
Keogh is 34, just back after a very serious injury, was never EPL standard and is stained by discipline issues. No doubting his commitment, but there's no reason whatsoever to bring him back.

Maybe he is great crack. Sure we used to do well when there was great crack in the squad.

Best craic was when we scored a goal. That may be too far back for younger posters.

Keogh's been playing regularly since September, and Egan and Collins are unavailable for the games in March.

The point of his call up would be to replace injured players. We would need 2 starters and one on the bench. So one more injury pre serbia and we are in hot water

I took the discussion in a more general sense. Nevertheless, for me that leaves four players (O'Shea, Clark, Long, Lenihan and possibly Doherty) ahead of Keogh for a CB spot. I'm delighted that Richard is back after a traumatic period in his life - but, again in my opinion, he's bottom of the list.

it's a short list, and there's a lot of the names ahead of him unavailable for the three games in March

Yeah, no one (or almost no one) is arguing that he should drop straight into the team, but between current injuries and all the covid-related messing last time out, we can't afford to turn our nose up at squad depth. Keogh's been playing again long enough to dismiss concerns around his injury. He's good cover for us.

Me too. I'd be a bit worried if he starts, both for the result and for Kenny's judgement.

A short CB list? Duffy, Clark, O'Shea, Long, Lenihan - plus Keogh. A lot unavailable? Two. What's the third game?

The other Centre Backs who are playing a lot better than Duffy would also surely be very concerned about Kenny’s judgment !

The hard tackle carried a potential deadline day West Ham bid for Egan too in January.

With promotion already secured, Egan gets a place on the bench today (v Preston NE).
