I was at the Cobh Vs Limk game. Absolute cracker. Jimmy O Neill tried to ruin it with his constawhistle blowing.

Cobh down to 10 men on the hour, O Reilly getting needlessly sent off for lip.

Colin P got 2. Looks very lazy and disinterested. Spent most of the game offside.

All in all, this was as exciting a 2nd half as you will ever see. Pity about the crowd. McAuliffe genourosly saif 700-800. More like 300-350

Uncle PP here Sheridan. Everything OK? (I'm not in a fighting mood either, so no worries there.)

The fact that we shouldn't be five points from safety, and arguably shouldn't be bottom at all. That we are is down to the perils of trying to play football at the hoofers' convention that is the lower half of the Premier Division, and in the case of the Derry defeat, outright, unpunished daylight robbery.

Aye and IF you HAD beat Derry ye'd still be 5 points behind us, IF we didnt concede two late goals against Cork we'd be sixth, IF we didnt concede two late goals against $hel$,and if me auntie had ****** she'd be me uncle, and if....blah, blah. Nobody gives a **** about IFs just points. And I s'pose that all those hammerings your team has taken were all against the run of play? Youse have a defence that leaks like a...actually your defence leaks like nothing on earth. Dublin deserve to be bottom, just like Derry deserved to be second bottom for so long...because of being crap!!!. But atleast now that we are (over the last 6 weeks) the divisions form team we DESERVE to be where we are. So as soon as Dub City start presenting results and not IFs then they will deserve to climb the table - but i cant see it.

Unfortunately plenty of good footballing sides get relegated at the expense of cloggers, whatever the league, whatever the division. Is it that DCFC need to get more physical in order to climb the table?

Actually, PP DCFC (if you mean Derry City)have climbed the table by PLAYING good football (still mightn't be brilliant but a damn side better than what we were). It was being all physical and HOOFING the ball that had us down in the relegation mire for so long (thanks to Messr's Keeley and Dykes). Its strange that we're climbing the table(heres hoping it continues) by playing the kind of football that Sheridan purports that Dublin city play, yet they look doomed to go down.

Sorry dancinpants, 'twas an innocent question. I shoulda made myself clear. I meant Home Farm aka DCFC, and not the boys from the Brandywell.

If we had either the means or the inclination to buy our way out of trouble (note that Derry's rise up the table has coincided with the return to form of a striker acquired at great expense and in dubious circumstances) I'm sure we'd zoom off the bottom just as quickly.

But you're right. We are where we are because we can't defend. But then, Bohs have defended just as badly all season (our 100% against them remains intact, incidentally) and are at the opposite end of the table.

We've had two vital results (as much for their potential psychological impact, as for the points at stake) snatched from us by shocking refereeing that bordered on the sadistic. Namely, the penalty awarded against us in Derry for a handball that was both ball-to-hand and five yards outside the box (the ref's assessor, a Donegalman, said at half-time that it was a valid pen. No-one, and I mean no-one, else in the ground thought so) and the 1-1 draw against Drogheda, when the ref, in an obvious attempt to engineer an equaliser, awarded Drogheda a ridiculous free-kick right on the edge of our box in the 96th minute, having indicated four minutes of stoppage time.

    We need to get:

    1: More physical
    2: Uglier
    3: Taller

And by that, I don't mean we need to get Clive Delaney.

Sorry for continuing the off-topic conversation, but Sheridan, maybe your league position also has to do with John Gill's tactical approach? Playing 4-5-1 at home (like you did against us earlier in the season) isn't exactly setting your stall out to beat teams.

You have a very round-about point. That was another game we should have won, incidentally. I think John's biggest tactical error was ditching 4-5-1 after the victory at Dalymount. Not because we needed to play more defensively, but because the two holding midfielders in our 4-4-2 set-up (usually Tierney and Colwell) have by and large held f*ck all.

Well you would'nt be there if it were'nt for Anthony Buttimers shocking refereeing on the final day of last season.

Buttimer is a force majeure and an equal opportunities cheat, you can't legislate for what he does.
