    team for sunday and europe

after seeing the game in vadus and last night, here is the team i would go for, for the next two games

    digger

    murph baz paiso dillon

    martin kirby prunty

    baker

    lavine francis

ok no real midfield cover but baker can drop back and kirby really battled hard last night ( his best perfromance in a long time ), with the performance of martin, baker and francis last night its hard to drop them and lavine is improving with every game.

my reason for putting baker in there is that he can run with the ball and unhindge defences by using the two fast wide men on each side. we played real on the ground football last night and it was good to watch and two travel a 375 mile round trip was well worth it.

your thoughts, maybe on refelection we do need more midfield cover, but our attacking really killed off harps for large chucks last night and the work rate of the strikers has to be comended, they just ran and ran all night.
Ignore Max Power, he is no more, the future is Ron Burgundy. I'd love to be Ron Burgundy but they won't let me........

I dont see how we could possibly go out against stronger teams with only one in the middle and a support man up front. Not trying to put a downer on it, but they were a first division team last night, and we've scored goals against first division opposition throughout the league cup. It's more a pointer to the difference in the standard of the two divisions that any great omen or way forward for us.

If, however, we were to do that it would have to be Fitz or Vinny, no way could Kirby do that sort of job on his own

agreed sorbo, but kirby has had 2 good performances, if i had to go for one it would be vinny for me.

If Pip is fit he'll play in the second leg I'd say, judging by how well he was doing until he got injured in Vaduz, covers the ground better than any of our other midfielders. We wont go too gung ho, if they score we need three and that would be difficult. Francis and Lavine might be a good choice up front. By the way Harps impressed me more than a few Premier teams I've seen, a couple of strong defenders and they'd be a very good side
Upwards to the vanguard where the pressure is too high.

    Foot.ie!

If Pip is fit I would play him at midfield with Fitzgerald or Vinnie. Kirby and Prunty on the wings and Lavine and Francis starting up front. Cannot afford a three man midfield with the players available.

Regarding Longfords scoring goals, I think the lads who were there last night may agree that the goals, esp the second last night were gift wrapped by terrible defending on our part. I though Longford closed down and defended well all over the pitch but didn't look any great shakes at creating chances.

Deserved win last night as they worked very hard in every area and clinically punished our sloppy back 4 and keeper. But can see why they struggle to score goals.

PS Nice to have met the stapos and max in Junction14 last night.
