That was Gary Breen, according to his contemporaries...

You mean 'stooping'? Just let's say GR's position is, er, 'contradictory'. Extremely.

As for McClean's letter, it's out there now with all his other views, end of story. He's never going to please everyone...
And is going to be tediously repeated every year 'ad nauseum'.

That ad nauseum will pale into insignificance when compared the the nauseum of seeing the poppy on tv for a month, military shows of strength and pageantry at every sporting event, general propaganda etc etc

True, but not that difficult to ignore the overkill tbf. Plus the usual double standards, hypocrisy etc.

I haven't been on the site much for the past week or so and missed the poppy discussion as a result. Nevertheless I did enjoy reading the various views expressed on the subject, but, as Tets suggested, perhaps it is best placed in the Current Affairs section.

Impressive how he's been at their club two years and they still can't spell his name properly.

I heard, Danny, that they only cater for posts up to the length of War and Peace. You'll just have to be more concise!
Hello, hello? What's going on? What's all this shouting, we'll have no trouble here!

Same here, but I can read lithe threads in the main forum without any problem. Either it's been deleted, or possibly marked as for registered users only

They value their sanity in Wigan.

Article's a week and a half old now, but I see it was actually Malky Mackay who was suggesting James will make a top centre-forward: http://www.wigantoday.net/sport/wiga...ront-1-7004905

“I thought James McClean ran himself into the ground at centre-forward, and I thought he caused their three centre-backs no end of problems on his own,” gushed the Latics boss.

“He’s got pace, he’s got power, he’s got a terrific touch and he’s someone I believe is going to turn into a top centre-forward.

“His work-rate was immense as well, and I have very high hopes for him.”

McClean laid on McCann’s goal with a pinpoint corner from which the midfielder found the roof of the net with a bullet header.

“That’s twice he’s done that now, he did it a couple of weeks ago at Sheffield Wednesday for Chris to score,” added Mackay.

“He’s got that dead-ball armoury to his best, and I was delighted with him on the whole.

“He’s played up there a couple of times now and I just see something in him and something that will only grow.”

I wouldn't be too surprised if he did make a good centre forward, actually. Probably not intelligent enough to be really good though.

I suppose if that doesn't work out, at least he always has the legal and diplomatic letter drafting to fall back on.

I would agree with pretty much all of that, he has more of the attributes of a centre forward than a winger, he is the
sort of player who can put himself about a bit, quick to react and robust, I can see him causing problems for opposition defence
    playing up front.
