Blame Not Brazil. He is like a bad case of herpes, he completely distracts and irritates you and you live in hope he will go away!

    Simple as that really.

The Englishmen came over in the year 2005
But little did they know that we'd planned a wee surprise
Sir David scored the winner, and Windsor Park went wild
And this is what we sang...

How's about we just agree that McClean made totally unfounded allegations about Northern Ireland fans, and that You Tube wars about sectarianism will bring no victor?

PS: No orange in my National Flag.

PPS: Search Northern Ireland fans Paddy MCCourt in You Tube.
What or where is this South you refer to?

Well the shinners often refer to the North of Ireland which sends OWC types into a frenzy so lets not be so insecure and get too carried away like they do!! We all know he means the South of Ireland/26 counties...

NotBrazil on your suggestions for some sort of voluntary agreement based on the age of 18 etc do you think it would be acceptable for all NI fans for a player who had declared for the FAI to return to the IFA? I remember a couple of years ago when Duffy had his bad accident in training I was on holiday at the time with a couple of friends one of whom was a NI fan and he was positively rejoicing in Duffy's misfortune and similar sentiments were expressed on ILS by some posters. It would seem to be a difficult thing to win over all Northern fans in that case imo.

How so? Others might complain about your blasphemy!

Anyway, it's probably due to the increased input of a certain poster...

It was pointed out to him immediately by NI fan, Phil Dowie. I've done the same myself.

I've seen abuse directed at Shane Ferguson lately due to his mulling over of his international future last summer. And whilst he'd been considering things, the general consensus amongst those concerned enough to post about it on OWC seemed to be: "If he's nat in it 100 per cent, then he can git tee [you know where]!"

Derry are set to get a financial boost if McClean is called up, according to some reports. Call him up Trap!

Is there a payment for making the squad or does he have to play?
In the absence of decent money being paid to local clubs for our players, robust add ons such as this are perhaps the only way to get any value out of sales.

Would Derry have received as significant a financial bonus, or one at all, if McClean was called up to or capped by the senior NI team? Conspiracy theorists, stay tuned...

    Transpires they would have: http://www.londonderrysentinel.co.uk...onus_1_3505446

City chairman Philip O’Doherty confirmed that as part of McClean’s deal across to the Black Cats involved a clause if the winger received any international caps.

“Yes part of James’ deal to Sunderland we have a clause in it stating we would receiving a certain sum of money if he received any international caps,” admitted Doherty.

Why does the article use the word 'admitted' when Derry should be commended for getting such a clause in a contract?

'Admitted' is one of those stupid words journalists use instead of 'said' because it's been drilled into them not to use simple language.

The Sentinel generally has a unionist political alignment and largely caters for a unionist audience - maybe they see a club that draws most of its support from the nationalist community benefiting as a bad thing - although I'd be more inclined to go with Charlie's explanation.

RTÉ's Tony O'Donoghue now reporting that FIFA have cleared McClean to play for Ireland: https://twitter.com/#!/Corktod/statu...00189149282307

    @Corktod
    Tony O'Donoghue
James McClean cleared by FIFA to play for the Republic of Ireland.
On the eve of the naming of a senior squad, I can't imagine it to be mere coincidence. I'd be extremely surprised if McClean wasn't in tomorrow's squad.

    Confirmed by RTÉ: http://www.rte.ie/sport/soccer/2012/0209/mccleanj.html

RTÉ Sport understands that James McClean's international eligibilty papers have been approved by FIFA.

The move clears the way for the Derryman to be included in the Republic of Ireland squad which will be announced on Friday for the upcoming friendly against the Czech Republic.
