    Make Noise on Saturday

Just a thought..but if everyone brought a whistle with them to the game on Saturday we could seriously annoy the Nantes players when they have the ball. it would be a serious addition to any booing etc.. Another bonus would be that we may catch a nantes player "offside" ala phantom whistler all those years ago.

Yes I think I can just about recall some discussion along those lines alright!

I think it's a good idea. It will certainly add to the noise and could be quite intimadating for the opposition.

How will anyone hear the ref then? Won't you just have the stewards going into the crowd to take whistles off people then?

What we need or those old rattlers things from the 1950's.

Sod the whistles, we just need support from all four sides of the ground, not just the Shed. I noticed against NEC that the St Annes end, where I was sitting, was almost totally silent until the last ten minutes, when Mickey D was waving his arms like a loon to encourage us! The X is a small, compared to other European grounds, compact little stadium with the crowd almost on the pitch, yet we only ever hear noise from the Shed! We need to be supporting the team from the very beginning. Even before they come on to the pitch, we need to let them know that we are behind them. We are up against it on Saturday, but if we can get behind the lads early, then who knows what might happen!

Get these cheap whistles (where?) - they sound nothing like a ref's whistle.

Open Letter from our Captain on www.corkcityfc.ie

On behalf of myself and all of the players at Cork City I would like to thank the people of Cork for your incredible support this season and in particular during our European campaign.

Last Sunday we made history by becoming the first Irish club to compete in a European quarter final. Next Saturday we want to create even more history by overcoming Nantes and progressing to the semi final.

We BELIEVE that we are capable of achieving the result we need, but only with your continued support. We have talked among ourselves about how Munster, against the odds achieved their amazing 27 points victory against Gloucester last year. On that day, Thomond Park was throbbing and the fans played a huge part in the teams victory. We are inviting the people of Cork to come to Turners Cross on Saturday and do the same for us. Come along and play your part in history.

    We need you!
    Dan Murray
Captain, on behalf of all of the players at Cork City FC

However we make the noise, let's make it loud

been saying this over and over again.

its all well and good having our full houses and looks great

but is their any point if the fcukers wont sing, and at this stage i wouldnt expect that we will succeed in getting them to sing

besides, they probably dont know the words to any of our songs.

Sure club gets €16 a pop & probbaly means can charge more to advertisers based on more exposure. A full house is always good for publicity too making people think they not guaranteed entry all the time...

I don't think need to go as far as ole ole but maybe some "Boys in Green" & adapted "Stand up for the Boys in Green..." to get some of the "occasionals" making some noise...?

Extreme solution would be send samll Shed Brigade to the St Annes/Derrynane corner to encourage folks...

a mini contingent of us decided to do this a few years back
Started loads of chants, brought bodhrans and a drum on one occasion, an all singing all dancing extravaganza etc.etc

there were a few pockets of reponse (mainly delighted kids) but the typical one from St.Anne's was:
"would ye ever shut up and sit down"

When I'm too old and frail to stand in the shed (maybe two years from now ) into the Donie with me, but I'm not going back up the Anne's end unless UEFA make me

thats where we'll all end up once the shed is knocked...

a worrying thing here is that they are pushing ahead with the Shed end developement without first putting a roof on the St Annes End. Way to look after the home support...
