Advice people. I need it. Big shtyle.

I really could use a favour from everyone, bit down in the dumps about certain blog review and consequent put downs of my band.

What I want from everyone here is an honest critique, honest opinion, and constructive criticism of my band TeddyBallet. Be as brutal as you want. It's what makes us want to improve. Please, give an honest opinion of the band, where we can improve, what to do to bring us forward as a band, and tell us what you really think of our music? This means a lot.

I'm not fishing for facebook likes, or fishing for youtube views, I'm genuinely looking for critiques of the band, and whether or not it's even worth continuing playing.

It would mean a hellova lot to me to hear critiques and constructive criticism from the people on here.

    The band is here

    No bother.

I'll send you anything I've to say in PM.

I'm reviewing a gig tonight so I'll have my full creative critical juices flowing later.

Im not a huge fan of the song you linked to above Nigel (it sounds technically very good but is just not the sort of music I like) but you are clearly a superb musician as my linking of your Carly Rae Jepsen to my facebook profile a couple of months ago proves. Its brilliant!! Ill give the rest of your stuff a listen later on tonight. Whatever happens with your band, dont give up playing music. Youre a class musician. TeddyBallet needs to play what you believe in and play the type of music you believe in. Play for enjoyment, not for success. I know this will sound gay but just "keep it real" and it'll come together.

My own brother as in a band that enjoyed small Irish chart success for a while there a few years ago and a bad review of their self-produced, self-financed labour of love album caused a huge uproar and despite a following and a great live show they never recovered from it and split soon after. He gave up on "making" music shortly after though he still plays and writes for personal pleasure. Honestly, i think they took their smaller successes and sold out a bit looking for the breakthrough though thats easy to say in hindsight as i fully supported them at the time. Check them out if you like - Superjimenez was their name. Probably wont be your cuppa either but their single "Helicopters" did well and then they crashed with "Faye"...

despite the one majorly negative review that they had that lead to a quick end, i thought their album was bloody good. My point is, if you and your band likes and believes in what you play then who gives a fck about what a tosser blogger writes about it? Opinions are like ar$eholes...
I like high energy football. A little bit rock and roll. Many finishes instead of waiting for the perfect one.

I know exactly what you're trying to say alright. It can hurt to get a really bad review, but we also got an absolutely spanking great review from someone else which lifted the spirits greatly after that.

I'll check out your brothers old band though for definite, always love to hear new (albeit old) things.

For the record, that Carly Rae Jepson video wasn't actually me, but it was pretty awesome alright!

i was almost sure you said it was you when you posted it.

But you are the guy in the Harps jersey in the video above right? Could have been you...you both have awesome hair...

By the way, you throw like a girl.

Ah it was more a reference to the song than anything.

That's me in the Harps jersey alright. I throw like awesome, just couldn't be hurting my own drummer!

I like the song with the video. It kind of sounds like Ian Curtis singing blues-rock. It'd be a good starting point for any band.

My only "critique" would be that the band-name and song title maybe seem a bit flippant / throwaway, and don't particularly suit the music (which for me would be darker / more serious). But I suppose it depends on what ye want from the whole thing.

Ha! I actually got pointed to that review (and the big, messy comment stream underneath it ) from somewhere a year or two ago; I didn't really check the band out at the time and just assumed they were awful . . . then I happened upon that "Helicopters" tune on a compilation album a few months back and it kind of ended up being among the standout tracks on what was a very decent collection
