Cobh Ramblers chairman John O'Sullivan has paid tribute to Roy Keane following the United skipper's part in a fund-raising friendly against the Cork side.
Keane, who celebrates his eleventh anniversary as a United player today, played for Cobh for a year before joining Nottingham Forest in 1990.

O'Sullivan said: "The match was his initiative, and his generous response to our call for help was typical of the relationship he has maintained.

"He has always given Cobh credit for being a stepping stone to success for him and he has never let us down."

The game, which a young United side won 2-1, raised an estimated £50,000 for the Irish National League side. Keane featured for an hour and was mobbed by jubliant fans at the final whistle.
