My Norton sub has recently expired, before I renew does anyone has recommendations on anti virus software. I recall discussions on here before where certain IT heads recommending against norton in favour of some otheres who i cant recall. Any advice appreciated.

A good active scanner I've come across is Microsoft Security Essentials (assuming you're on a PC with Vista or 7 and your copy is legal). Another good one (not an active scanner but as a double checker) is Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. Hitman Pro is one I've used that finds just about everything and seems quite good, but costs about $25 as I recall.

As above. As much as I dislike recommending MS products, it's free and it's far less intrusive than the alternatives.

Followed ye're advice and installed MSE, thanks. Might be just me but the computer seems to be running better since I did so and uninstalled Norton.

Probably not you. Norton's been a massive resource hog for years.
