Not a disaster though as Gniezno has two trains an hour to Poznan and they run all night (takes 45 mins to an hour depending on the train).

That hotel is 7km for Gniezno though but it is dirt cheap (less than 50 euro a night for a double room)
That hotel is the far side of the town of Gniezno even if you got the train back which i doubt you could so late at night after the game you would than need a cab to finish the journey.

Has anything checked out the 'football fans camp Poland'
They have 2 man tents for 50 euro a night

Don't know if it's fancy - it ain't a VDub like but it's for six men, rented from a reputable place and has an engine and room. Suits us since we it's our home from home for 13 days.

I guess we could've went budget and constructed a mini-bus out of rice krispie squares, but the insurance would be insane. A

I am coming pretty close to booking a campervan in Poland, so I'd be really grateful if somebody could answer these few questions:

    1. Does my full driving licence cover me to drive (a) a campervan (b) a campervan abroad?

    2. What's the story with insurance? should this be sorted out with my own car insurance company or with the company with which I hire the van? They haven't mentioned anything about it in the mail correspondence.

    3. Is it awkward to find designated areas to park the van or can you pretty much throw it anywhere within reason?

    4. Is there a maximum amount of people you can have in the van or is it done by weight? Presume there wouldn't be a major issue squeezing in an extra one or two??

Your Irish licence should cover you for Poland providing you're over 25. The insurance will be included in the final price that you're charged. They do seem to stipulate, in order to satisfy the insurance requirements, that you park up overnight in a guarded camp-site. Bear in mind that they can track your location via GPS. There is a weight issue, so if you are taking more than the van is catered for I'd recommend only showing up with the recommended amount and pick up your mates along the way.

Not sure if you'll find it that easy to rent a van in Poland. We had a look and couldn't really find much going. We've booked flights to Frankfurt and making our way in a van from there. Best of luck anyway!

Yes you would need a cab from the station from Gniezno back to the hotel but there is a train from Poznan to Gniezno at 03:11 on both nights Ireland are playing in Poznan which takes only 36 minutes (and costs less than four euros).

Not a nightmare to wait that long, especially if you fancy a few beers in Poznan after the game.

Again, far from ideal, but it is free to cancel and better than nothing.

For those wishing to check train timetables in Poland here is the site to do it...

Apologies for the double threading lads, I thought this was important.

There are Cat 1 tickets for the Croatia game available NOW from the UEFA ticket portal. A bit pricey at €120 plus €24 booking fee but if you want to guarantee a ticket, they're there.

    Using that site:

Your purchase is being made and any payment required is being taken.
Please be patient as this may take some time during busy periods.

Please do not navigate away from this page, it will eventually allow you to continue.

    Hopefully the order goes through.

It should do. If you log back in on a new tab you'll find the tickets should be there. That was the case for me anyway.
I thought you were off the drink Ronnie?

I got the Ireland Croatia tickets! I thought I handn't but as Junior said if you wait long enough after purchase you seem to get them on logging back in.

There were tickets for a Quarter Final in Donetsk which we would be in if we won our group for 30 EUR a few mins ago.

Fair play Edmundo. I could have got one myself but I only had a debit card and there isn't enough in my account. €152 in total for one ticket was a bit mad anyway from the official website. I'd get over it if I had to give it to some punk last minute.

[QUOTE=cfdh_edmundo;1558857]I got the Ireland Croatia tickets! [QUOTE]

Nice one Edmundo! I waited for a full 90 minutes with the screen telling me to be patient, then it told me I was timed out!!! But when I checked again the tickets were in my inbox thankfully.

To date I've only seen single tickets available for sale on the UEFA.com ticket portal, which I reckon are from punters who weren't impressed with the line-up, having bought tickets for their local venue yonks ago. These tickets were snapped up very quickly on the ticket portal.

This morning was different though. The tickets were available all morning. I reckon they were corporate returns. I'm not complaining, now that I've got tickets for one game I can book some flights.

Lads on YBIG secured 4 tickets and I myself got 2 tickets for the IRL v CRO game from the portal.

GER v HOL available yesterday for €30. All the England games have been available. Basically Ukraine venues but others as well in Poland so rule is just to keep checking.....

Ireland - Croatia has appeared again if anybody is interested. I can't make that game.

Cheek of UEFA, a 70 euro resale ticket works out at 97 euros after fees and admin. This site is supposed to help clamp down on scalpers? UEFA are scalping!
