When he plays well he is brilliant. If he was consistent he would be a real star
I maintain he's a confidence player. What better way to gain confidence than with that goal? The Euros was similar. Confidence kept Building.
Also unlucky not to win a penalty after an errant challenge from Arter.

It was outside the box and Arter had to challenge him somehow in my opinion.
Garth Crooks names Hendrick and Ward in his Team of the Week; has dig at Arter.
What a goal. The control was a bit special but the quality of the finish just blew me away. He said in his post-match interview that he wants to score goals - well he won't score many better goals in his career than his strike against Bournemouth.
However, it wasn't just the goal that set Hendrick's performance apart from the rest, but his overall contribution. On another day he might have had a penalty when Harry Arter bundled Hendrick over in the box and it again showed that the player has a healthy nose for sniffing out goals.http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/38283965Well, Irish eyes must be smiling in Lancashire after two goals by Irishmen and three well-earned points for Burnley.
Jeff Hendrick got the stunning opener but Stephen Ward provided the goal that gave the Clarets a little breathing space in what became a stifling encounter. What impressed me most about Ward's goal was the speed of his reaction. Artur Boruc did well to make the save but Ward was on the rebound like a cobra to make it 2-0.
However, I continue to be slightly bemused by managers. Sean Dyche felt that football is a time trial and the whistle must be blown in line with the time added board. Players play until the whistle. The time added is an indicator for the referee, and players continue to do their job until the referee blows for time. It's not the referee's fault if they can't defend in the meantime.

Isn't that much more of interest than two digs at Arter?
Forget about the performance or entertainment. It's only the result that matters.
I'm not sure who it says more about that you are using a personal tragedy to take an (off topic) shot at someone.
I didn't take a dig at Arter. I said Hendrick almost won a penalty after Arter fouled him, as has been reported in several places. How on earth could that be perceived as a dig? I'm even getting blamed for something Garth Crooks said!
How many times has insert Clark/Wilson/Keogh/Duffy/Coleman conceded/almost conceded a penalty being posted on threads on this forum before? This incident's even more notable because it concerns 2 Ireland Intls and was considered notable enough to be included in several match reports. I don't know why I am going to so much efforts to defend what I said because it almost makes me look as if I have something to defend in the first place!
Several weeks ago, Delorean posted that Keogh handled the ball on the line in a match against Sheffield Wednesday and the incident went unpunished. Does that mean he had a dig at Keogh? Course not.
I suggest you grow up and stop taking a paranoid offense at everything.
It's getting extremely tiresome.

"Jeff Hendrick's all-round performance received some serious praise on Match of the Day".

I can't think of a better goal scored by an Irishman in the EPL. I'm sure Keane and Duff scored some spectacular goals and Irwin some great free kicks but Jeff's is right up there.
Interesting. It has to be up there, they don't come much more spectacular in terms of the finish and he gets huge bonus points for the way he set it up for himself.
Was this Rory Delap goal in the Premier League?
I think this might have been Irwin's best but it came in the F.A. Cup. He got some nice free kicks alright, notably in the famous 3-3 draw at Anfield but nothing that would come close to Hendrick's. He also scored this nice one against Spurs in the Premier League but more because of the Cantona pass.
This is possibly Keane's best, technically amazing. I remember he got a brilliant one for Spurs against Everton too with the outside of his boot, might have even got a hat-trick the same day.
Steven Reid's rocket
Shane's from Long range
Stephen Carr v Man Utd
Gibson and Harte would have got a few crackers too but I can't think of any better than Hendrick's. Keane's at The Emirates comes closest for me. Can anybody think of any more?
Robbie scored a cracker for Coventry against Arsenal too.
JOS v Arsenal.
Goal of the month winners:
Simon Cox
Damien Duff
Daryl Murphy (bonus Andy Reid pass)
Steven Reid
That Duff one entered my head alright after Stutts mentioned him. It's a very good strike but I'm surprised it even won goal of the month to be honest, must have been an average enough month for crackers.
Murphy v Wigan won goal of the season I think.
Adebayor won it that season according to this but I'm not too sure about that wiki entry.
Either way, I'd prefer to score Hendricks over all of these but possibly Murphys as a team goal.
Scored one similiar to Hendrick a couple of seasons ago but the ref said that I used my arm to control it. Lies. We were 5-0 down at the time.
