Just finished Jonathan Wilson's Two Brothers about Jack and Bobby Charlton.

I think we're mugs to be discussing wages or how well off some footballer might be when it comes to anyone who's been playing L1-PL for a goood number of years. We're mugs.

Newcastle are keen to move Hendrick, Ryan Fraser and Isaac Hayden and on. They have one, two and three years respectively left on their contracts. Just paying them off would be costly and would also hurt Newcastle because of FFP rules.

Eddie Howe ends Ryan Fraser silence and explains why Newcastle haven't sold Hayden and Hendrick - Chronicle Live

Southampton are reportedly interested in Hayden, and Celtic in Fraser, but Hendrick (31) doesn't seem to be mentioned in the 'transfer rumours' columns.

Thought they would have shipped him off to one of their Saudi Arabian teams by now. Seems his most likely destination and should probably spell the end of his international career.

he's not good enough for the saudi league. league one or lower championship if he's lucky.

maybe mcclean could convince wrexham to take him on, he'd probably do "ok" at league two level.

Owls' target Isaac Hayden seems to have been nabbed by Standard Liege, but "His teammate Jeff Hendrick, however looks likely to complete the deal to Sheffield Wednesday as medical tests commence."

EFL Championship bottom club Sheffield Wednesday keen to offload Hendrick sooner rather than later, it seems.

Came on as sub in the 79th minute in the home game against Championship leaders Leicester. Scored a 93rd minute equaliser to salvage a point for the bottom club.

Released by Newcastle, in a major (not) shock.

Got 14 minutes with Sheffield Wednesday on loan since New Year's; hasn't started a game since Sept. Injury didn't help, but still, he wasn't heavily involved there even when fit. Does he get a Championship move for next season? Still only 32 so in theory has a couple of seasons ahead of him yet.

Also mad to see the previous post from six months ago was a reference to our manager(less) situation. Bet RLP didn't imagine that would be as relevant six months later!

I think it might be time for Jeff to go for the overseas pay day. Anywhere from the MLS to the A-League to Saudi might work with his CV of Premier League, international and finals tournament experience. I don't think there's a game for him in the top two divisions in England anymore sadly. Seems to have suffered a really steep decline in the last couple of years, but then maybe his talents were always a bit overstated to begin with.

Harry Arter will be another one looking for work this summer, Darren Randolph too, all three have made some great money in recent years in return for not playing. James McCarthy still has another year to go on his Celtic contract somehow.

Jeff's wife is Scottish, he might be the right hit for Hubs as well

I think Hendrick (like a few other Irish players over the years) took a wrong step in his career when he went to Newcastle, but he's still only 32 and seems to look after himself so you'd imagine he still has plenty to offer. Players don't get nearly 80 caps for their country if they don't have something about them. He just needs the right manager to believe in him and a bit of luck.

He made a fortune by signing for Newcastle. I wouldn't say that was a wrong step at all. Most of these guys are out to make money, and good on them for doing it. There's a reason James McCarthy is collecting a paycheck at Celtic, he could have moved on years ago if he was willing to terminate his deal and leave some money on the table.
