Or whenever a club wants. Ya forgot his contract had ended by when the transfer window normally opens/season ends.

He should go somewhere where they try to play good football.

    Not the UK.

I think the "UK doesn't play good football" thing is a bit stale. Yes, it's more physical than most leagues but technically it's miles better than it ever used to be. Even the Championship has become very proficient. Brentford were a joy to watch last night, for example.

I keep getting told this, but I don't see it.

Perhaps my standards are just a bit higher.

This is too weird. serious sense of deja vu going on here, even for MS.

I'd like to think that he'll still end up at a top-flight side. He has ability.

To be honest this would/will probably be the most predictable Irish transfer ever. I think about four different posters have predicted it on this thread alone.

Who knows, maybe he could do well there under Bruce provided the latter keeps his job. Either way he wasn't pulling up any trees at Burnley.

Good move for him. Hopefully he will get some decent game time because he lost his way at Burnley after a good start and it has gone stale. There is a half decent midfielder in there somewhere - no,. 8 type.

I used to slag of Bruce abit but he's actually a decent manager esp last season. Plus Newcastle are probably better than Milan anyway!

When did he lose his way? He was a regular starter for Burnley over 4 seasons and afaia the fans thought he did okay.

I thought he was getting subbed alot in games last season or not starting them? Plus his performances for Ireland over last 2 years dropped from Euro levels.

At Euro 2016 I thought he'd pushed on to another level. Sadly it seems he was playing above his actual level. Hopefully the change of scenery helps rejuvenate his career. In his defense, I don't think the brand of football during the O'Neill era or with Burnley really played to his strengths.

Not convinced the situation will be exceptionally different at Newcastle but to be fair they do have some nice footballers there.

Looks to be all wrapped up now.
Republic of Ireland midfielder Jeff Hendrick is bound for St James's Park after signing for Newcastle United on a four-year deal.

Such an underwhelming transfer. When the likes of Milan was mentioned I hoped he would look to the continent.

Kieran Clark at times as a stretch. Its just such a basket case as a club Id almost have preferred him to go anywhere else.
