Again this weekend the rumours of dodgy dealings abound. I know it happens in other countries, and not just makey uppy ones that were once part of bigger countries. Is this going on in the LOI? I went to bed last night thinking that what I'd been told about one match last night was bull - now this morning saw the result and reaction and have 2nd thoughts.
I was told yesterday afternoon (Irish time) the result of the UCD match and to put my house on it. You obviously heard stirrings yourself bullit. I refused to believe it until this morning. I know match fixing takes place, it's part and parcel of football to a degree, however I'm still hoping this was just a coincidence. The last time I heard it in relation to Dundalk I thought it had to be a lie. And I hope yesterday was down to good betting advice and wishful thinking.
Harder evidence, so basically you mean post the phone number of the person etc? Or you mean collect the betting slips? Or what evidence? If you disagree, so be it, if ou have proof to the contrary, so be it. However I asked a legit question, you asked for an instance, I answered with something that had been told to me well in advance. It wasn't easy to hear and while the lad who told me is 100% sound, I didn't believe it. However is it wrong to ask a question? If there are allegations of a match being fixed they're just that until proven otherwise.
So no proof.Thread reported.
If there is an allegation there has to be investigation. I am certain you remember a match a few years ago where rumours wrapped around it, and I am 100% certain you heard about last night from more sources than forums and keyboard warriors. It isn't defending the honour of the club to slam anyone who asks a question. That's a disservice to the club and sport. However I'll go along with what the mods say on this as the last thing needed is to discuss events surrounding the LOI.
I am not holding out or not believing what you say because i want to diss the club, what i do want is pure, backed up evidence and not just your thoughts. For what it is worth,i backed UCD tonight tonight and made a handy profit thank you but i done that by having knowledge of what is happening and not by anything that i was told.
Simple question - did you hear allegations of the match being fixed beforehand? Yes or no.
edit: Meanwhile I'm going to watch the Grand Final.

Sinple answer = NO.
Good luck.
Well students are usually broke....
The plot thickens....
Cumann Peile Dún Dealgan - Champions 2015 (too many accolades to be typing)
Termonbarry Athletic TID!
I was told yesterday to also bet on UCD, from a Dundalk fan, but because they are missing loads of players and aren't very good anyway. No match fixing involved, nonsense thread
I think the OP needs to clarify what he was told. If it was just UCD win, then there is no problem. A look at both team sheets would point to a UCD win. If he was told that UCD would win 3-0 (exact score correct) then I'd have suspicions too.
I'd be skeptical of matchfixing claims too. Anyone with any interest/knowledge of the LOI would have expected UCD to win. People who bet would have put money on it. Yes, that'l annoy the uninformed bookies, but it doesn't point to matchfixing.
Agree, if it was 3-0 he was told then it changes it
It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if 75% of the league was an elaborate fix.
Those two Asians dudes with a transistor radio at every game?!
Story there like?! We've ALL seen them!
Just to clarify, the person who told me to back Dundalk to win said it would be "a walkover score", he clarified it and said it was doing the rounds and to get on it, put the house on it etc. Whether or not there was any matchfixing it can only be proved or disproved via investigation. We had it recently with Shels and imho I think it's normally far too easy to throw fix allegations about after a match, or with last second betting patterns. Do I want to believe that players are messing about, of course not, regardless of the club. It's bad enough we have to endure high jinx in other areas of the LOI.
But given the knowledge from around Europe, and from (no disrespect meant in this to other countries) respected leagues like Germany, regardless of last night, I don't know if the LOI is immune. Saying it's small beans in betting terms is no excuse - in Ireland maybe, but remember you can bet around the world on LOI matches.
edit: LTID - You probably saw Jayo's family years ago when he was wih UCD or Rovers :-)
