    World's most titled player?

My dad was recently reading Bobby Charlton's autobiography, and he passed a comment to me about how Charlton "won everything". Putting the exaggeration to one side, it did get me thinking which footballer has won the most? And perhaps more interestingly, which world footballer has the greatest spread of trophies, in the sense of winning a range of international tournaments, continental and national trophies?

Even though aged only 30, Iker Casillas may be hard to beat. He's won:

    - World Cup
    - European Championship
    - World Youth Championship
    - European u16 Championship
    - European u15 Championship
    - World Club Championship
    - Continental Champions (UEFA Champions' League)
    - Continental Supercup (UEFA Supercup)
    - National league (La Liga)
    - National Cup (Copa del Rey)
    - National Supercup (Spanish Supercup)

And some of them on multiple occasions.

I think the only major trophy he is missing is the Europa League, which he's unlikely ever tp play in because his team is too good to qualify.

    And he's 30.

Laureus World Sports Awards Lifetime Achievement Award from South African President Nelson Mandela: 2000
In December 2000, Pelé and Maradona shared the prize of FIFA Player of the Century by FIFA.[115] The award was originally intended to be based upon votes in a web poll, but after it became apparent that it favoured Diego Maradona, many observers complained that the Internet nature of the poll would have meant a skewed demographic of younger fans who would have seen Maradona play, but not Pelé. FIFA then appointed a "Family of Football" committee of FIFA members to decide the winner of the award. The committee chose Pelé. Since Maradona was winning the Internet poll, however, it was decided he and Pelé should share the award.[116]

I thought immediately of Clarence Seedorf, who has won the Champions' League, league titles and assorted cups with Ajax, Milan and Real Madrid.

However, he's never won the World Cup or European Championship.

Van der Sar came to mind similarly, but his spell at Juventus didn't coincide with much silverware.

Andres Iniesta won crap load of cups with the under-age of Spain aswell as the natioanl team and the Barcelona team.

I guess the real Ronaldo would also need to be up there along with Maldini they are the modern day ones I can think of who have won everything up to the world cup?

    And of course,
IMO the most talented player ever to have played the game
    Zinedine Zidane.

6* players have won the Champions League and Libertadores, can you name them?

    * well one of them had very little part in his teams Champions League campaign, not sure he would have even got a medal.

Probably let down by the fact that he's won feck all at international level (no Copa America or World Cup)

Ryan Giggs would be well up there as a player (though he didn't win the Cup Winners' Cup despite making his debut that season), but is let down by being Welsh.

Tough one this. Cafu and Tevez mentioned, Dida would be another one. Actually he's got a nice spread of honours generally

yep that's 3 of the 6 (well to be honest I should say 3 of the 5 as one of them had so little part in the CL it hardly counts).

I think Beckenbauer just about tops Cassilas

    in substance
    2 x Ballon d'Or
    4 x FOTY - Germany
1 World Cup (also one as manager)
    1 Euro Cup
    3 European cups
    5 x Bundesliga

Had looked at Beckenbauer earlier actually. Gerd Muller was there for pretty much all of those as well.

Solari is the 6th one, who doesnt really count, as I don't think he ever played for River in the Libertadores win in 1996, but he did play a part in the Champions League. Technically Sorín has won both as well, but he never played a game for either Juve or River in their cup wins. I dont think Redondo won the Libertadores, think he was just at Argentinos Juniors and didn't win anything there, not sure they ever made the Libertadores when he played.

Yeah, huge haul no doubt, but in terms of spread, I think Cafu is winning, with Casillas second. Open to correction though...
