    Dave Moore

Yet another former city player doing well elsewhere.......from rte.ie

David Moore was Waterford's hero last night, as his late brace sent them through to the Eircom League Cup quarter-finals. In a tight match Moore's double was the difference between the two teams, striking first with fifteen minutes left and then again nine minutes later. The sending off of their keeper, Gary Rogers, one minute before the final whistle compounded Drogheda's night of misery.

Waterford join Longford, Bohs, Cork, Derry, Limerick, and Shamrock Rovers in the final eight, with only one tie left outstanding, between Sligo and St. Pat's, which is being played tonight. Moore had only been on the pitch for seven minutes when he received a great ball from Barry Wood. The second was a fantastic strike from the edge of the box, after being fed by John Frost.

Drogheda's miserable night was completed on 89 minutes, when Rogers was sent-off for a professional foul. He received the straight red card for felling Kevin O’ Brien on the edge of the box a minute from time, in what seemed a harsh decision by referee Damien Han****. O'Brien had appeared to lose his way and was heading towards the corner when the keeper fouled him, but the Dublin official felt it was a cynical challenge.

The match was a dull affair, as these two sides who have drawn their last three clashes seemed more concerned with keeping the other out. It had looked like it might take penalties to separate Waterford and Drogheda, but then Moore popped up with his terrific brace to earn Waterford a vital win.

He was just too skillful for us. Tynan should have learned his lesson from Moore's departure!

Can I just point out that some of ye are complaining that Cork City released a player to Waterford, who are struggling in the 1st division & he cant get his game there, so our manager is a fool. What did he ever do for Cork City to deserve his £150ish per week? NOTHING! Admitidly he had only a few chances, but he failed to take them. Murphy has seen the guy far more than any of us (less then 10 appeariences for City - prob. no starts in the league) yet we all know about what a good player he is! Fair enough he was with Celtic for a while, but he couldnt make it there and he didnt make it here aswell. He's not exactly a youth player, Im not sure of his age but he's over 20.
I wish the guy luck but you have to remember that economics have to play a big part in who stays and who goes at CCFC and he was surplus to requirements so his pay will be given to a new player, like CP or O'Grady.
As I say, we're just young & a bit nieve.

Dead right, the first division is brutal, just becuase he gets a couple of goals for Waterford doesn't mean he's good enough for City.
