Looks like we are going for the 4-6-0 formation.

grrrr I've had in in for Turkey ever since we played them in play off for Euro 2000. The team and the Turkish FA tried every dirty trick in the book

Connolly and Towell in midfield with Clifford just ahead. Looks like we're going to be humping it up to Barton all day, again. Why can't we just play it out?

U21s are 1-0 down. Barton isn't playing according to Uefa and isn't on the bench.

Duffy came on up front. Shades of Gary Doherty?

Odd that no striker was called up to the squad. Karl Sheppard of Shamrock Rovers played for the U21 in the last qualification campaign and is still eligible for example. Anyways if we beat Liechtenstein home and away in our next two games we are still in a good position going into the new year. Italy beat Hungary 3-0 away in the group's other game yesterday.

It is odd. Hopefully King will learn from this experience. Hungary at home offered nothing to test Ireland. I'm sure Turkey gave King's boys something to think about.

Interesting to note that Shane Duffy started ahead of Niall Canavan for Scunthorpe today and has been awarded Man of the Match.

Great hopefully duffy can deal with the physicality and come back to everton to challenge for a place. Jimmy Ryan is a super little technical attacking midfielder only 22 old liverpool lad might still be an international
